This is the best budget-friendly light stand I’ve used. Unlike other light stands in the same price range, this one doesn’t let the lights drop suddenly when you loosen the adjustment knobs.

For small (not heavy) lights, these are great. I mainly use them for speed lights with various modifiers. I would not feel comfortable putting a heavier light on these at any real height. But for my use, they work very well. These stands don't weigh much, and collapse enough to fit easily into my gear bag. Easy to move them around.

Is the base where it folds made out of plastic or metal? The ones I currently have are plastic and are consistently breaking.

What's a good bag to carry two of these? Thanks

I did a lot of research before I selected the Neewer Photo Studio Equipment 36x9x9 inches bag. I selected this bag because it is much smaller than most of the pro bags. It appears well-made and it is padded. I keep my whole lighting kit in it including the two light stands, a 5' tripod, a gorillapod and two each of speedlights with mag-grips, mag-domes, mag-bounces, grids, gels and a 5-in-one diffuser/reflector. I use one outside pocket for reference materials and I use the other outside pocket for clamps, cold shoes, bungie cords, and batteries.

Yes, the Impact Collapsible Reflector / Background Holder Kit can support a 6.5 x 5 Wescott Reversible Backdrop from the center top of the background. I recommend using a sandbag on the bottom of the stand, BH #IMSBFO15 (https://bhpho.to/3wT8EK6).
