Cokin P164 Circular Polarizer Glass Filter
Key Features
  • Makes a Blue Sky Bluer
  • Makes Clouds Stand Out
  • Eliminates Reflections in Glass, Water
  • Rotates Within the Optional Holder
This is the P164 Circular Polarizer Glass Filter from Cokin. It fits in the optional Cokin P Holder. Light rays which are reflected become polarized. Polarizing filters are used to select which light rays enter your camera lens. A polarizer helps make a blue sky bluer as well as making clouds stand out. It can remove unwanted reflections from non-metallic surfaces such as water or glass and also saturate colors providing better contrast. The effect can be seen through the viewfinder and changed by rotating the filter. The filter factor varies according to how the filter is rotated and its orientation to the sun.

question

My Cokin P Series Holder accepts the Cokin P164 Circular Glass Filter, and I the 77m adapter ring fits as well. However, the filter does not turn easily and the adapter ring allows the holder to spin easily. What has anyone done to make these parts work as they should?
Asked by: Raymond J.
If the filter is truly hard to turn and you are still in 30 days from B&H, you should contact B&H Customer Service to see if you can exchange it. As far as dealing with the holder spinning, I would suggest trying spinning of the filter in the opposite direction, the direction use to tighten the 77mm adapter.

question

Hello, why does this filter seems to take two slots space when placed in the back slot of the Cokin P holder ? Only the front slot seems to be available when I put this filter. For example, CP + ND10 is possible but not CP + GND + ND10.
Asked by: Anonymous
I just put the CP in the backmost slot, therefore taking up the very thin slot at back and one regular slot in front of it. Then I slid in both the dark gray and light gray filters into the two slots in front of the CP without any problem.

question

Is there a way to use this filter with the HITECH HT85AMH filter holder.? What accessory pieces do I need to adapt the holder for this filter?
Asked by: Brian L.
I am using this Circular Polarizer Glass filter with the Cokin filter holder, so I really don't know if you can use it with the filter holder you are mentioning. I suggest you get in contact with HITECH I am sure they can provide you with the proper answer.Cheers,Antoine

question

Will this filter fit the Cokin Z-Pro Filter Holder?
Asked by: Larry
The size I bought I believe is for the p series. I do not know of the z series supports our of the filters come in that size. Also make sure you use something to block light. The foam circle you get with the filter does nothing

question

Does this polarizing filter fit in Cokin P series? I have a 77mm lens?
Asked by: Raymond J.
I was in Alaska and tried to use the polarizing filter and could not get it to go in the P sized filter holder. I have not had the time to contact b&h photo to see what is what. Two things I should have done, make sure that the filter would fit, asking them to try it before they shopped it. When I received it make sure it fit with my p sized holder. Still not sure what is wrong. . .It was to late to exchange it by the time we got back from our trip. A very expensive mistake.

question

I already have the Cokin P filter holder, so I ordered this filter to fit into it. I was expecting a glass plate filter like my neutral density filters. Instead this is round and is too large to fit into my holder. Did I order the wrong filter?
Asked by: Douglas T.
You have the right holder for this specific circular polarizer. The reason why it's round instead of a glass plate is because you chose a circular polarizer. A linear one would have been in a lass plate shape.
