Specifically designed to produce creative selective focus effects, the Composer Pro II with Edge 35 Optic from Lensbaby pairs the 35mm f/3.5 optic with a lens body for Micro Four Thirds-mount cameras. The Edge 35 features a flat field design for sharp, accurate rendering and its unique optical design also enables producing a dramatic slice of focus surrounded by a smooth, blurred border. When coupled with the Composer Pro II, this slice of focus can be moved and rotated within the image area, and changed in dimension, using up to 15° of tilt on the lens body. The optic also features a manual aperture for adjusting the width of the in-focus area and has an eight-blade diaphragm to further contribute to a smooth bokeh quality in the out-of-focus regions. The lens is constructed with nine glass elements in six groups, and each of the elements is multi-coated to resist flare and ghosting for high contrast, color-accurate imagery.

Edge 35 Optic

  • Wide-angle 35mm f/3.5 lens provides a comfortable, broad, and natural field of view.
  • Flat field rendering delivers a high degree of sharpness and, when tilted in the Composer II, a dramatic slice of focus is produced that is bordered by a smooth and even blur to isolate subjects with selective focus.
  • Besides adjusting exposure, the f/3.5 to f/22 aperture range allows you to control the size of the sweet spot of focus.
  • An eight-blade diaphragm contributes to a smooth, pleasing bokeh quality.
  • Lens construction uses nine glass elements in six groups, and each of the elements are multi-coated to resist flare and ghosting for increased contrast and color accuracy.

Composer Pro II

  • Micro Four Thirds lens mount.
  • Enables tilting the optic up to 15°to vary the amount and position of the slice of focus.
  • Accepts various optics from the Optic Swap System.

Is this all you need to start using it with a nikon 810 or do I need another attachment
Asked by: Maryan
As the Nikon D810 DSLR camera uses the Nikon F-mount lens mount and the Lensbaby Composer Pro II with Sweet 50 Optic for Nikon F, B&H # LELBCP250, is designed for use on the Nikon F-mount lens mount, no other accessory is needed to connect the lens to the Nikon D810 DSLR camera. It will connect directly to the lens mount on the Nikon D810 DSLR camera.

We shoot both Canon and Nikon in my house. Is it safe to assume tht the optics are interchangeable regardless of camera body mount?
Asked by: Gerald
If you have a Lensbaby lens mount designed for use with Lensbaby's Optic Swap System, and have one for each camera brand (one for Nikon, one for Canon), then yes, the Sweet 50 Optic included with the Lensbaby Composer Pro II can be interchanged between lens mounts. The current lens mounts that are compatible for use with Lensbaby's Optic Swap System would be the Lensbaby Spark, Lensbaby Straight Body, and the Lensbaby Composer Pro II lens mounts.

Yes, any of our Canon mounted lenses will be compatible with your camera. They will work in aperture priority mode and your in-camera light meter should work.

question

I have a lensbaby sweet 56 and purchased it to create the effect of a sharp prime image with blur surrounding. It is a very nice lens, but it doesnt seem to do any more than my 50 mm normal. Open wide and shoot. Same effect. Is this lens any different as far as achieving a blur around the outside? Does it only allow you to move the sweet spot, yet still utilizing a wide open aperture to get the blurring effect? In other words, will my 50mm prime create the same effect? (Except, of course) the sweet spot movement.
Asked by: M Edward
We don't have a Sweet 56. We have a Composer Pro II with Sweet 50 Optic (pictured here) or we have a Velvet 56 which is a stand alone lens. Two different products and effects. The Composer Pro II with Sweet 50 Optic (pictured here) is 50mm, will give you a sweet spot of focus surrounded by a soft blur. Adjust the aperture for more or less of the soft blur. The Composer Pro II is optic swappable so you can take the Sweet 50 Optic out and put in a new optic for a new effect. It also has a ball-joint so you can move the sweet spot around your frame. If you have issues with a different lens of ours, feel free to reach out directly to Lensbaby and we're happy to help.
