Mackie PROFX10V3 Overview

The Mackie ProFX10v3 is a 10-channel mixing console featuring four Onyx microphone preamps with 60 dB of headroom and a built-in effects engine with 24 built-in FX, making it well suited for live sound, home recording, and content creators. The integrated 2x4 USB audio interface offers high-quality 24-bit / 192 kHz recording and playback with zero-latency monitoring.

Channels 1-2 offer combo XLR-1/4" mic/line connections and feature single-knob compression and Hi-Z (for guitar and bass), while channels 3-4 offer XLR or 1/4" inputs. Channels 1-4 include inserts, low-cut filters (100 Hz), and gain controls. Channels 5/6 and 7/8 offer two 1/4" inputs, while channel 9/10 use a 3.5mm stereo input. All channels offer 3-band EQ, dedicated FX send, pan, mute, and level controls. Engaging channel 9/10's USB 3-4 switch will override the 3.5mm input and enable the USB return from a computer. Other features include a pair of control room outputs with level control, an input USB 1/2 blend control, a dedicated FX output, an FX level control, and an FX mute, which can also be controlled via the 1/4" footswitch input.

Mackie PROFX10V3 Reviews

I like it fine, but it has its shortcomings.

Build quality is solid. Good for easy setup and worry free use with all the routing options necessary for a small group of musicians. I would have preferred volume sliders over the knobs, just to have better visual control over the settings. The built in effects are okay, but alas, there is quite a bit of audible noise associated with the reverbs and delays. I'm now using the mixer with a separate reverb, provided by a Boss RV5 pedal. That was not the idea when I ordered this. I would have liked a simple plug and play solution. If I had known about the noise issues, I would have invested in a mixer without built in effects.

Great Mixer at a great price

This Mackie PRO Fx10 mixer replaced a Behringer QX1202USB and is a major step up. Well designed and plenty of inputs and outputs. A huge advantage is the single (lit) button mute on Mac of the channels. B&H price included a carry bag, and was an exceptional deal.

Can each channel be recorded as a separate track through the USB? Is a specific program or driver required?
Asked by: Eli
The Mackie ProFX10v3 10-Channel Sound Reinforcement Mixer with Built-In FX only offers 2 inputs and 4 outputs via USB, so that would not provide full multi-track recording. If a full multi-track recording is required, the mixer would need to be paired with an audio interface that provides the needed number of input channels.

Is it possible to assign different effects to different channels, or can you only choose one for all?
Asked by: Steven
You could use a channel insert to add your own effect per channel if you own a pedal or rack effect.

Can this mixer connect 6 microphones? If so, how to connect in line 5/6 or line 7/8?
Asked by: Neelakantan
No, the Mackie ProFX10v3 10-Channel Sound Reinforcement Mixer with Built-In Effects has only four mic preamps so it is intended for use with up to four microphones. In order to use the line level input channels (5/6 and 7/8) for microphones, you could use a separate mic preamp like the Rolls MP13 Mini-Mic Preamp (B&H # ROMP13) and connect its 1/4" output to the 1/4" inputs on the mixer. You can either use a 1/4" TS to 1/4" TS cable like the Kopul Premium Performance 3000 Series 1/4" Male to 1/4" Male Instrument Cable- 3' (B&H # KOI3003) to connect to the mono (left) input on the mixer for a mono signal or use a Y-cable like the Hosa Technology Stereo 1/4" Male to 2 Mono 1/4" Male Insert Y-Cable - 3.3' (B&H # HOYCSPM2PM3) to connect to both the left and right inputs 5/6 and/or 7/8 for a stereo signal. As a better option, if you do not already have the ProFX10v3, you may want to consider the Mackie ProFX12v3 12-Channel Sound Reinforcement Mixer with Built-In FX (B&H # MAPROFX12V3) which is the model up from the ProFX10v3. The ProFX12v3 has seven input channels that can be used to connect microphones.

Clarifying question: are left and right outs ...

Clarifying question: are left and right outs related in any way to stereo vs mono? Do both left and right out play the full sound output?
Asked by: Gershon
The signals from the left and right main outputs of the Mackie ProFX10v3 10-Channel Sound Reinforcement Mixer with Built-In FX are influenced by the "Pan" selection of each channel. The pan knob determines which side of the mix each channel's signal is sent to. For instance, channel 1 could be panned hard left, and channel 2 hard right, and channel 1 would only come out of the left main output while channel 2 only came out of the right main output. Panning can be done definitively to either side or anywhere in between, and the main outs will accurately interpret these selections in their output signal.

Can you solo tracks on this? Seems like a basic feature. If not which smaller mixers have it?
Asked by: Allen
The Mackie ProFX10v3 10-Channel Sound Reinforcement Mixer with Built-In FX does not have individual "Solo" switches for each track. This features is implemented in Mackie's ProFXV3 line starting with the slightly larger Mackie ProFX12v3 12-Channel Sound Reinforcement Mixer with Built-In FX (BH #MAPROFX12V3): https://bhpho.to/3C84kGD

Can I use the FX send on this unit to do a mix-minus for a podcast, when attached to a phone--that is, without applying any effects? From the manual it sounded like the FX knob would only send to the internal FX, but I see that FX jack on the console. Thanks!
Asked by: Dave
You should be able to use the FX send without applying any effects and it should work to do a mix-minus setup.

If I have 4 mics plugged in the Mackie PROFX10 can I use phantom power only for 2 lines (for the RODE NT55 instrument mics that require it?) The Lavalier mic CountryMan B6 does not require phantom power.
Asked by: Mihaela
While all 4 mic channels receive phantom, it is possible to mix condenser, dynamic and ribbons IF you use a Cloudlifter device on the ribbons to isolate them from the voltage.
