I like the simplicity of this frame and how the frame does not distract from the image. But it it a cheap frame and easily damaged.

Are these frames plastic?

Yes, the black frame is plastic, but it is very thin in its frontal view. The glass is real, having very convenient smoothed edges making it easy to handle and clean. The farming of documents and photographs is easy. The frames are suitable for low profile uses when cost is a factor.

No, just a notch for a picture hanger hook. These are on both the wide and narrow sides of the frame.
