Lowepro 250 AW III Overview

The gray Fastpack BP 250 AW III from Lowepro is a versatile backpack that features two main compartments, including a camera compartment along the base of the bag that can be used to hold a small DSLR or mirrorless camera body with three or four lenses, including an attached 24-70mm f/2.8 lens. Positioned so that it can be reached when the bag is rotated from one's back to front with its left side facing upward, the camera compartment's zippered, peel-away opening includes an internal clip system that allows the wearer to ensure that the zippered opening provides side access only. Alternatively, the clip system can be released so that the peel-away opening can be fully unzipped and retracted, enabling complete access to the camera compartment such as when the bag is placed on a flat surface with its backpack straps facing downward. Above the camera compartment, a top-facing zippered storage compartment can accommodate packable clothing and features organizer pockets which can be used to store travel documents, camera batteries, memory cards, or small electronics.

When the Fastpack BP 250 AW III is in use, a dedicated zippered compartment for a 13" laptop rests directly behind the shoulders, followed by the two main compartments. For items that need to be accessed quickly and conveniently, the front panel includes a top-facing zippered pocket. This pocket can be used as a space for a notepad, maps, or snacks; and its zipper, like the zippers for the bottom camera compartment and the top storage compartment, includes a large pull that can be easily gripped. While a stretchable side pocket on the wearer's right side can hold a water bottle; a small tripod or monopod can instead be stored within the side pocket and further secured using the retaining strap located above that pocket.

Constructed for durability while remaining lightweight, the Fastpack BP 250 AW III is built to be weather resistant and includes a seam-sealed cover for use under heavy rain.

Lowepro 250 AW III Reviews

Great fastpack!

I have the Lowenpro Sling but wanted something a bit bigger. The fastpack fits the bill. Great straps & padding. Plenty of room. In the bottom I can carry the Canon RF 100-400mm f/5.6-8, with hood reversed, the EOS R with attached RF 70-200mm f/4, with hood extended. These lenses can be switched too. Each lens is accommodated with hood on when mounted on camera. Room to spare. In the top I carry the EOS RP with attached RF 14-35mm f/4 hood on and the RF 50mm f/1.8 hood on. Pockets accommodate a Canon speedlite, Lume Cube mini, four batteries, two chargers, all weather card case. By unlashing the right strap, the bag slings under your left arm, accessing the bottom left side. The top can also be accessed tho less readily. Very happy with purchase. Highly recommended.

Just an awesome bag!

This bag is a lot nicer than my previous bag. It looks very professional and has just enough room to carry the essentials a few extras. It's well made and well designed. Highly recommend!

I have been using Lowepro bags for over 20 years (in fact I still use my first one!) The build quality is always excellent. This bag is light weight, has a trim profile, and the layout is nice for camera gear on the bottom and miscellaneous items on the top. Love the side entry

Perfect size

Was the perfect size for my new Sony bridge camera. Well constructed and easy to get into. The upper compartment is just right for travel essentials and the rear slot holds my iPad pro nicely.

Perfect Companion Bag -

I've only had this bag for two weeks now and just got back from a road trip with it. I LOVE it. It was perfect for my needs. Traveling with my video gear in a Pelican carry on that goes overhead, my Lowepro Fastpack was able to handle everything else... headphones, computer, hard drives, variety of chargers, personal items... and all slid perfectly under the seat in front of me. And the zippers on top made EVERYTHING so easy to access when I needed. And when I need, I can configure it to take my a7IV and accessories on a day shoot when I can't bring my case with me. Can't believe I dragged a brief case around we me for so long.

Just what I was looking for.

I needed something bigger than my sling for my camera gear and yet something that could also carry personal gear when I'm hiking, yet be small enough for a carryon and this fits the bill

Well Built

Bought this to replace another bag, and so far it's serving me well. Sufficient space to store my small mirrorless camera plus three to four lenses. Ample space, too, to store a MacBook plus other gear like a windbreaker. Wish that the waist belt were just a bit thicker.

Nice bag, will NOT fit a Z9.

Although I liked the bag quite a bit, it simply will not fit a Z9, with or without the lens attached. It was well made, comfortable, and sturdy, but the dimensions of the Z9 body are simply incompatible with this bag, no matter how you orient it. Double check the dimensions of your camera body and compare it to the bag, is the lesson I learned.

I like the easy access on the side, but is it possible to secure it so that someone behind you can't easily get in?
Asked by: Greg
There is a strap on the back that prevents it from opening up all the way. That is shown in the 14th photo. You could also place a small lock through the zipper so it cannot be opened.

The Lowepro Fastpack BP 250 AW II would have more space and would hold up better for every day storage.

The top compartment is 11.4 x 10 x 5.1" / 29 x 25.4 x 13 cm. You would need to check the dimensions of the case you want to put inside. I am not seeing one by the exact name you list.

I have a Nikon D780 fitted with a 24-120mm lens. The spec of the camera bag reads 4.9" (H) whereas the height of the D780 is 4.55". It sounds like a very tight fit. Has anyone tried this combination with the bag? I like a snug fit, but not tight.
Asked by: J.H. JOHN
We just tried this at the superstore and it fits well! It's not snug at all. The camera compartment below sits quite loosely rather than being very tight and taut, so there is some leeway with the height of the interior. You can feel the camera if you push down on the compartment but there is substantial padding that will protect it even if knocked or bumped hard.

It does have a waist belt, but it's smaller and it's not meant to lift weight off. It's made for stability.
