Lowepro BP 250 AW III Overview

The gray Fastpack BP 250 AW III from Lowepro is a versatile backpack that features two main compartments, including a camera compartment along the base of the bag that can be used to hold a small DSLR or mirrorless camera body with three or four lenses, including an attached 24-70mm f/2.8 lens. Positioned so that it can be reached when the bag is rotated from one's back to front with its left side facing upward, the camera compartment's zippered, peel-away opening includes an internal clip system that allows the wearer to ensure that the zippered opening provides side access only. Alternatively, the clip system can be released so that the peel-away opening can be fully unzipped and retracted, enabling complete access to the camera compartment such as when the bag is placed on a flat surface with its backpack straps facing downward. Above the camera compartment, a top-facing zippered storage compartment can accommodate packable clothing and features organizer pockets which can be used to store travel documents, camera batteries, memory cards, or small electronics.

When the Fastpack BP 250 AW III is in use, a dedicated zippered compartment for a 13" laptop rests directly behind the shoulders, followed by the two main compartments. For items that need to be accessed quickly and conveniently, the front panel includes a top-facing zippered pocket. This pocket can be used as a space for a notepad, maps, or snacks; and its zipper, like the zippers for the bottom camera compartment and the top storage compartment, includes a large pull that can be easily gripped. While a stretchable side pocket on the wearer's right side can hold a water bottle; a small tripod or monopod can instead be stored within the side pocket and further secured using the retaining strap located above that pocket.

Constructed for durability while remaining lightweight, the Fastpack BP 250 AW III is built to be weather resistant and includes a seam-sealed cover for use under heavy rain.

Lowepro BP 250 AW III Reviews

Best all-around backpack

I have a bag problem…. I LOVE a good camera bag and have several that I use for different applications. But when it comes to the bag I’ll reach for most often and the best all-around multi-purpose backpack, Lowepro got it right with the BP150! No other bag gives me the versatility and carrying capacity that this bag does! I am surprised at how difficult it is to find a bag that meets some of the most basic and practical uses a photographer might need, and this bag absolutely NAILS IT! Even when considering bags three times as expensive, I always find them to be lacking in one or more of the features Lowepro thoughtfully and meticulously included in their design. Get this backpack and you can finally end the search for a bag and get back to what really matters—the photos and experiences you’re longing for. I can’t wait to see where this backpack takes YOU!

An updated version with some nice improvements

I have an older version of the Lowepro Fastpack. I purchased this new bag to an apiring photographer, but before I did, I compared the two bags. Pros: 1) This bag's depth is significantly more streamlined and shallower than the original. 2) Unlike the original, the zippered compartment for the laptop opens at the top, and the space easily fits a 16 Mac. The old one had the zipper opening on the side. 3) The storage on top is also better thought out. and photographer-friendly. 4) The outside fabric is more water resistant. Cons: 1) The adjustable dividers for the camera and lenses are MUCH thinner and less cushiony than on the original. I have no doubt they will protect the gear, but I am not so sure this is an improvement. 2) The older version had a built-in rain cover that opened from a velcroed panel on the bottom. This version has an attached bag that contains the rain cover. It hangs out in the upper compartment. I prefer the older raincoat design. Verdict: This is an excellent bag that is small in size for what it carries--one camera and up to three lenses. Unlike sling models that offer just one shoulder strap, having two straps evens the load on the shoulders and doesn't cause the fatigue that the one-strap models do. If this is the size of bag you are looking for, look no further.

I like the easy access on the side, but is it possible to secure it so that someone behind you can't easily get in?
Asked by: Greg
There is a strap on the back that prevents it from opening up all the way. That is shown in the 14th photo. You could also place a small lock through the zipper so it cannot be opened.

The Lowepro Fastpack BP 250 AW II would have more space and would hold up better for every day storage.

The top compartment is 11.4 x 10 x 5.1" / 29 x 25.4 x 13 cm. You would need to check the dimensions of the case you want to put inside. I am not seeing one by the exact name you list.
