Home Theater Amplifiers
Home theater amplifiers serve as the heart of your audio system. An amplifier differs from a home theater receiver in that it takes the audio in and sends it to the speakers. In contrast to a receiver, radio tuners and equalizers are add-ons to the amplifier. It's a similar concept to hooking up your bass to a bass amplifier in that you wouldn't expect the amplifier to mix the sound of the instrument.
Picking a home audio amplifier depends on the intended use. If you only plan to listen to your favorite music, then you should look at home stereo amplifiers. However, if you want to connect the amplifier to your home theater system, then you want to consider amps designed specifically for theaters.
Types of Amplifiers
The number of channels an amplifier has is one of the most important considerations. The channels refer to the number of speakers that you can connect to it. They also can include useful features such as Wi-Fi or Bluetooth technology for greater integration into the system. In addition, if you want to alter the way the sound presents in your speakers, consider a mixer/amplifier combo. This allows for a more customized sound experience. If you have a larger room with bigger speakers, then consider home theater or home stereo power amplifiers to ensure the necessary watts to fill the room with sound.
Connecting an Amplifier to Speakers
You can connect your home amplifier to your speakers in several ways.
Bluetooth
Bluetooth on an amplifier can fulfill a couple of your needs. If you want to be able to stream music from your phone or another streaming device directly to your amplifier, then a Bluetooth-enabled amplifier is an optimal choice. If you intend to connect your Bluetooth speakers to your home theater amplifier wirelessly, then you'll enjoy the simplicity of pairing a Bluetooth-connected amplifier.
Speaker Cable
The traditional cabled speaker connected directly to your amplifier certainly has its benefits. With Bluetooth, occasionally there can be a slight sound delay. Delays will never happen with a cabled speaker. Additionally, if you demand the very highest quality sound at peak levels, then you'll enjoy the fullness of the audio experience with speakers connected via cable.
Whether you need to upgrade an outdated receiver, or you just bought a new set of speakers, having the right home theater subwoofer amplifier ensures optimal performance from your audio system.
