Super-telephoto prime is designed for use with full-frame Canon RF-mount mirrorless digital cameras.
Fixed f/11 aperture contributes to the sleek and portable form factor as well as a balanced mixture of depth of field and sharpness.
Gapless dual-layer diffractive optics contribute to a marked reduction in chromatic and spherical aberrations as well as benefit the design of a relatively compact and lightweight lens.
Retractable/extendable design, with a locking lens barrel, offers an impressively compact form factor considering the super-telephoto design.
An Optical Image Stabilizer helps to minimize the appearance of camera shake by up to four stops to better enable working in low-light conditions and with slower shutter speeds.
STM stepping motor offers fast, quiet, smooth, and accurate autofocus performance that is ideal for video recording as well as still shooting.
Configurable Control Ring can be used to adjust a variety of exposure settings, including aperture, ISO, and exposure compensation.
Compatible with optional Extender RF 1.4x and Extender RF 2x teleconverters to further increase the effective focal length.

Canon RF 800mm f/11 IS STM Reviews
Budget long-reach tele with caveats

This is a unique lens, and I have used this lens it for over two years, shooting 10s of thousands of images in all lighting conditions imaginable on an R5 body. The lens delivers excellent sharpness when focused critically, but one must be aware of its limitations - even with its impressive IS, it is best mounted on a tripod unless you are in really good light. On a tripod, with a stationary animal (e.g. a perched owl or Potoo), I've gotten acceptable results with a flashlight illuminating the subject, at ridiculous shutter speeds approaching 1 second. However, at f!!, you'll be shooting at ISO 12,800 in this situation, and good noise reduction software is mandatory to produce anything that doesn't shout of noise.
A major limitation to this lens is the minimum focus distance of 6m. (!!!) - I've found myself backing up into the foliage at times to shoot a bird that just landed a reasonable distance away, sometimes losing the shot in the process. This is my major criticism.
A conclusion I reached is that 800mm is an ideal focal length for bird photography. I had been shooting with a 500mm prime with 1.4X converter for the over 20 years, but always wanted just a bit more for the small birds (and most of them are small). Very seldom I will find it is too long, when a large bird appears close by. You'll want another lens for larger animals unless it is a pack of wolves taking down a bison in Yellowstone 1⁄4 mile away.
There are four good reasons to buy this lens: it is light, it is compact (when compressed), it is cheap, and it is 800mm. It isn't an L-series, and it isn't fast. But who would want to carry a normal 800mm prime lens around with anything but a dolly or lift truck?
AMAZING lens for the price!

Yes it's locked at F11, so pay double to get around that. This is an amazing value. I started photographing birds in my yard about 8 weeks ago and I've had amazing results. I used it on a Canon RP then upgraded to Canon R5. I'm thrilled. The backgrounds sometimes are weird... but I can live with that for the price. It's LIGHT, it's SHARP and it GETS CLOSE. It's one drawback is the focus box is less than half the size of the cameras frame. = ( You must keep the subject inside this smaller area to focus on it. Like with any long lens you need to set your camera up to work well with it. Like you can switch the focus range to eliminate closer focus range which makes it focus faster.
Of course I want more, so I have a 200-800 on backorder... but if you're limited to this price range you won't be unhappy. 8 weeks of bird photography and I'm thrilled.

No, this lens will not work with the Rebel series cameras. This is a RF lens, which is meant for mirrorless cameras. Your camera requires either EF or EF-S lenses.
