Does this TC-1.4x impact the sharpness, autofocus speed and low light photography of the Nikon Z 400mm f4.5S for birds?

All teleconverters impact sharpness, autofocusing speed and definitely light regardless of the lens. However the Nikon Z 1.4X teleconverter does an impressive job of keeping the degradation to a minimum, it's barely noticeable. The autofocus speed will also work great. The only thing you'll actually notice is the stop loss in light, dropping the f/4.5 aperture to f/6.3.

As of the date/time of this reply, according to Nikon's website, the Nikon Z Teleconverter TC-1.4x is only listed as compatible for use with the NIKKOR Z 70-200mm f/2.8 VR S Lens. It is not compatible for use with the Nikon NIKKOR Z 24-200mm f/4-6.3 VR Lens.

No, minimal focal distance does not change maximum reproduction of ratio change increasing by the same factor as the teleconverter.

An earlier Q&A noted that the opening on the back of the FTZ adapter was not large enough for the extended piece of this teleconverter to fit inside. Does the FTZ II rectify this issue so that the FTZ II and this Z teleconverter can be used together?

Unfortunately, the Nikon Z Teleconverter TC-1.4X was not intended to be used with the FTZ or FTZ II. This is by design.

Are the Z TCs compatible with the FTZ mount adapter? i.e. would it be possible to connect say a Z7 to the Z TC, then the FTZ and finally an F-mount (G\E) lens?

According to the Nikon website both teleconverters are only compatible with the NIKKOR Z 70-200mm 2.8, which is currently unavailable.
