Pelican 1615 Air Overview

The waterproof 1615AirNF Wheeled Carry-On Hard Case in orange from Pelican is a crushproof case made from lightweight HPX2 polymer that will protect and store sensitive gear. The case is secured with an updated push-button latching system on three sides that uses compressive force to tightly clamp the case shut. This edition of the 1615Air comes lined but without foam or other inserts, allowing you the freedom to completely customize the roomy 29.6 x 15.5 x 9.4" interior to your specific needs and gear. Carry your case using one of the three overmolded handles or if it's too heavy, extend the pull handle and tow it behind you on its two low-profile, quiet-running wheels.

Your case is made of a super-light proprietary HPX2 polymer with honeycomb structural elements, which is up to 40% lighter than most other Pelican polymers. Case design features include an O-ring that seals it to an IP67-rating to make it dust and waterproof, dual 5/16" (8mm) diameter stainless steel-reinforced padlock holes, and a pressure relief valve. This valve regulates the internal pressure, keeping your gear and the case from getting crushed and allowing you to open the case without having to break a tough pressurized seal that may develop. For easy identification, there's a polycarbonate card holder that may be placed on the front or side of the case.

As with all bags and cases, check with your specific airline for the exact measurements of what they consider "carry-on" luggage before your flight.

I am looking for something to transport a large format (think Speed Graphic) camera and 4 or 5 large format lenses mounted on lens boards. Which would be the better option - the pick and pluck foam or the dividers?
Asked by: Edward
Dividers offer the most flexibility and the maximum use of space. Foam, while offering a little more protection, once arranged for the specific gear is difficult to change, if at all. Most likely a new foam set would be required.

I have used it to transport my 400 mm lens. It works very well. 600 mm lens will not fit. I don't see a way to upload a photo; but, will be happy to do that as well.
