APC BR1500MS Reviews

Always been a APC fan

This unit replaced a 12 year old BR1500G. That unit performed well over the years, only requiring one battery replacement. This BR1500MS2 is it's replacement, both in APC's product line and here at my home, and I have full confidence that it will perform just as well, hopefully better given it supplies pure sine wave power.

APC BR1500MS2 Great for Home Computer Protection

I've been using APC Battery BU products for 20+ years. I've never been let down from those infrequent blackouts or those quick flicks of turning the whole neighborhood's electrical service off and on. This is the latest iteration of this model and it has already proved itself.

It Just Works

We have used APC UPS products for many, many years both professionally (commercial grade) and at home. The Back-UPS Pro's have been very reliable for us at home, primarily using this one in particular for our home networking equipment to allow for a longer uptime do deal with the inevitable brown-outs and black-outs in our semi-rural area. The APC equipment we've used "just works." We also appreciate being able to mute the alarm. (Many cheaper models, and those from other manufacturers do not allow this and we have had to shut down systems just to shut them up, even if plenty of battery power was available.)

Quick and easy. Setup a breeze.

Using this UPS as a backup power source for my Synology NAS. Setup was a no brainer. I connected my NAS and UPS with a data cable which communicates with the server if battery is running low, allowing my NAS to go to sleep without breaking any drives, and vice versa when power is up again. Would say this is a must for any server if you want it to last you.

I upgraded to this backup and surge protector device and having no issues. Had the power go out for a few minutes during a storm and it kept the modem, router and TV running.

I have purchased multiple units of this model for the Sinewave technology. This is a must have for any PC or electronics made in the last few years.

2 F02 errors in 2 years

By Hugh

I bought a APC Back-UPS Pro BR1500MS from B&H in July 2020, it worked well, got me thru several power outages, and then died with a F02 error in the 10th month. I started thru the trouble shooting specs from APC and on turn on something flashed and popped inside with an electric burn smell. To their credit I was sent a new one (actually the latest revision). However, now August 2022, the new unit has failed in exactly the same way. At this point, with an average life of one year each for the units I doubt I will take another one, even for free.

Has APC fixed the chirping noise in this version
Asked by: john
Thank you for your inquiry. There has been firmware revisions to address the cosmetic issue. The latest firmware would be on the BR1500MS2. However just note the unit would still alarm if the battery were disconnected in the unit or the UPS failed a self test. This is to notify you that there is alarm on the unit so you can address it. If you run into any issues with our unit please do not hesitate to reach out to an APCbySchneider support team. We offer email and chat services through our support site. Asked by: Bruce
Are you sure the battery capacity on the MS2 is higher than the MS model? That doesn't agree with the Batter Capacity number in the specs or the runtimes as compared between the two.

The B&H website says the BR1500MS2 has a ...

The B&H website says the BR1500MS2 has a user-replaceable, hot-swappable battery, as does the APC manual for the product. The APC website, though, says the battery cannot be replaced, which I verified with APC's technical-support by phone. What's the deal? Why would this follow-on to the BR1500MS (with replaceable battery) NOT have a replaceable battery?
Asked by: Frank
The replacement battery for the BR1500MS2 is APCRBC163. So yes the battery is replaceable.

Thank you for your interest in our products. The BR1500MS2 would just come with the latest firmware when compared to the BR1500MS. They would both have the same technical specs besides the firmware though.
