Favorite Special Filter- Love this at Night for the Street

This is my favorite special use filter. I especially like to use it photographing neon signs when visiting a city at night. The bloom is a lot of fun to experiment with. I think it’s just right on my Q3 and Q3 43 for giving the special diffusion effect to otherwise normal street shots which include bright lighting. I’d be careful to adjust framing with bright white overhead street lighting so as not to get too much of a good thing. For portraits, it softens the image, but for me that is not it’s main use.

i forgot to check before putting it on, this filter ring is made out of cheap aluminum and will lock on the lens never to be removed. save yourself the hassle and get one made out of brass, or one better made that won't ruin your day...

The Moment 82mm CineBloom Diffusion Filter (10% Density) does not have a filter factor since the filter does not reduce exposure—it just diffuses the image.

The Canon 55-210mm RFS lens uses 55mm filter. Moment does not make this filter in the 55mm size but you can use this 58mm version: https://bhpho.to/35ilHnH combined with this step up ring: https://bhpho.to/3KtiKoj

If I buy Moment 82mm CineBloom Diffusion Filter 10% would it work on Canon R50 if i am using Canon RF-S 55-210mm f/5-7.1 IS STM?
Asked by: Plamen
The Canon RF-S 55-210mm f/5-7.1 IS STM Lens (Canon RF) uses 55mm filers. Unfortunately, Moment does not have a 10% diffusion filter on that size. You can get the Moment 58mm CineBloom Diffusion Filter (10% Density) and use an adapter to make it fit on a 55mm lens. This is the filter: https://bhpho.to/35ilHnH This is the adapter: https://bhpho.to/3KtiKoj

Do you use diffusion filters such as this one in conjunction with a UV filter, or without it?
Asked by: Michael
I usually use the diffusion filter alone, without a UV filter. That is because if you stack filters there is a greater chance of getting reflections and ghosting.
