Is it possible to rig this out to be a ring grip, much like the (way more expensive) control ring grips just withoutthe control?
The SmallRig Dual Handgrips would not provide the same functions as a gimbal ring mount. However, there is a Smallrig Ring that is low cost.

No it will not work with the first generation DJI Ronin S or SC. It is only compatible with the RS2 or RSC2.
