I have about ten different drives laying around that have accumulated over the years. I just wanted a quick and easy way to access those drives. This works great for that purpose. Plug and play any 3.5/2.5 inch HDD in seconds. I have not tried any cloning features so I can't comment on that. The product is well made with easy to read instructions. The sale price was great.

I love it!

Does everything it is supposed to do and does it well. It is a much better way to deal with a large number of backup drives instead of buying enclosures for each one. I wish it had been available earlier.

slow, slow and slower

Bought one to replace two separate USB3 to SATA adapters. After installation every access to ANY drive on the machine takes several seconds to launch. The actual data transfer seems fine, but the initial delay is too much to comfortably use. I do not recommend this product.

It Works

It works. I formatted a 500 GB drive in the cradle. I did not try the cloning. According to the literature, the cloning is off-line only, meaning both the source and target drives must be installed in the device. You can't clone from a working drive in a computer. It comes with a power adapter and USB cable.

Why is the offline cloning speed slower than the regular data transfer speed?
Asked by: Isaac
The dock does not have the processing power of a computer. It copies the data sequentially bit-by-bit, which is generally slower because it copies both the data and the empty space.

Because the offline cloning speed is reliant on the items internal processor. Versus a host computer doing independent transfer often has more available resource's hardware wise.
