Angler FastBox Octagonal Softbox (20")

The FastBox Octagonal Softbox from Angler is a 20" octagonal softbox designed to set up and collapse in a fraction of the time it takes to set up a standard softbox. With a single motion, it expands to snap and lock into a classic octagonal shape, favored by fashion and portrait photographers for even lighting and round catchlights in your subject's eyes. The silver interior amplifies the output from an on-camera flash, and the inner and outer diffusers create an even beam without hot spots. The FastBox has an adjustable 120° angle and features a twist lock stand adapter that can be attached to any standard 5/8" stud.

The separately available adapter rings allow the mount to be attached to on-camera-type flash units and Profoto-A mount or Godox V1 mount compatible lights.

Angler FastBox Softbox Adapter for On-Camera Flash V2

The FastBox Softbox Adapter for On-Camera Flash V2 from Angler is compatible with most standard and compact shoe-mount flashes and allows you to attach them to Angler's 20" and 24" FastBoxes. The adjustable flash-head lock and included compact flash adapter have nonslip rubber pads to firmly grip the flash head without scratching its finish. Use the flash without the FastBox by mounting the FB-SM-V2 directly to a tripod with the built-in 1/4"-20 socket. Attach the adapter to the Angler FB-PG FastBox Pistol Grip to use it as a handheld unit, or use the Pistol Grip's 5/8" receiver to mount the flash to any light stand with a 5/8" stud.

NOTE: Not recommended for use with Godox AD200/AD200Pro.

Dedicated FastBox Adapter
The FB-SM-V2 adapter attaches most shoe-mount flashes to a FastBox so you can take advantage of the light-modifying and shaping capabilities of the FastBox. It also lets you take your flash off the camera and use it in a stand-alone capacity.
Flash Adapter
The flash adapter is compatible with most full-sized shoe-mount flash heads. The one-touch lock securely holds the flash head in place and provides a firm and secure grip that won't scratch the surface of the flash.
Compact Flash Adapter
The included compact flash adapter quickly inserts into the shoe-mount flash adapter and provides the same firm and secure hold for compact flash heads.
Flash Lock
The flash lock conforms to the size of your flash for a stable hold that won't release until it's time to wrap. Interior rubber pads ensure a strong grip on the flash without scratching its surface.
Built-In 1/4"-20 Socket
The built-in 1/4"-20 socket at the bottom of the adapter allows you to mount it to a tripod or flash bracket without the FastBox. This is useful for setting up a remote flash.
Optional Pistol Grip
The socket is compatible with Angler's dedicated FB-PG pistol grip, so a flash can be used as a handheld unit, or mounted to a light stand with a 5/8" Baby pin.

Poor Bracket to Stand Lock System

The only thing that makes this softbox problematic is the darn twist “lock” mechanism to mount to a stand. Everything else about it is fantastic. When it twists tight, four rubber sides press against the mounting stud to “grip” it, the problem with that is that nearly all mounting studs/baby pins and so on all have the notched/concave section to keep screw down type mounting systems from slipping off the mount. This means that the twist lock has not much surface area to grip on to; just the ring at the top of the stud and a small amount at the bottom. It makes for a very insecure mounting system and will spin in the wind or slowly sag went mounted at an angle. This makes it very annoying when the light is mounting out of reach and you have yo keep taking the light down to readjust. There’s no reason this shouldn’t have a screw type locking system. That would make this an unbeatable setup. I’ll still use this as an assistant-held light but I can never mount it again without the guaranteed position change.

The Angler On-Camera Flash FastBox 20" Octagonal Softbox Kit is designed for use with a hot shoe flash, not a Canon EOS Digital Rebel DSLR Camera. If you have an external hot shoe flash that is designed to fit on the top of your camera's hot shoe, then that flash should be compatible for use with the Angler On-Camera Flash FastBox 20" Octagonal Softbox, though it would help if we knew the brand/model of your flash to confirm compatibility. However, the Angler On-Camera Flash FastBox 20" Octagonal Softbox is designed for use on a light stand, and it would not be compatible for use with a camera by itself.

Is the speedlight adapter tight enough to securely hold the Godox TT350?

The Angler On-Camera Flash FastBox 20" Octagonal Softbox Kit (B&H# ANFB20KCK) could grip the small head of the Godox TT350S Mini Thinklite TTL Flash (B&H# GOTT350S) if the speedlight is mounted with the head in a vertical orientation (the flash body being on its side), but it would not be especially secure. Alternatively, we would imagine that some would consider adding pieces of foam or foam insulation tape to narrow the mount around the opening to allow it to be tight enough so that the Godox TT350 could be used with its head in the standard horizontal orientation. However, we cannot recommend either such option as neither of those would consitute an intended and standard usage of the product. No, the Canon Speedlite EL-1 cannot be used with the Angler On-Camera Flash FastBox 20" Octagonal Softbox Kit. The flash head is to large to fit in the Angler FastBox Softbox Adapter for On-Camera Flash V2.

Yes, you can use the rectangular Godox AD200Pro TTL Pocket Flash Kit with the Angler On-Camera Flash FastBox 20" Octagonal Softbox Kit, BH #ANFB20KCK (B&H Kit). However, you will need to get the Angler FB-G2 Fastbox Adapter for Godox AD200/AD200Pro TTL Pocket Flash, BH #ANFBG2.
