It is our opinion you cannot disassemble this strap. As is, the farthest it stretches is 32".

Is there any type of a quick release so you don't have to screw it into the camera and then unscrew it to put on a tripod?
Not really. The strap has a quick release clip to release the strap from the piece that screws into the camera. But, that piece has to be unscrewed in order to mount to a tripod. It is an inconvenience if you are wanting to utilize both back and forth. Otherwise I love my strap.
