SmallRig Quick Lock NATO Side Handle Overview

Capable of attaching to your camera cage with a simple "click", this SmallRig Snap-On Quick Lock NATO Side Handle offers a right- or left-side handgrip with additional mounting spots for your rig. The quick-locking NATO clamp can attach the grip to any compatible NATO rail for easy installation. The handle can even be adjusted 1.4" vertically to achieve optimal balance.

Multiple 1/4"-20 threads and a cold shoe mounting slot at the top of the handle offer places to secure your fill light, external monitor, or cable clamp. There's even a wrist strap slot for additional security. The handle is constructed of aluminum alloy and has a 26.4 lb load capacity for heavier rigs. A built-in magnetic Allen key makes attaching and detaching accessories a breeze.

Great quick-release handle!

This handle feels great, and is super easy to add and remove one-handed. It might not be the most featured handle, but it's definitely a sturdy, reliable one. My criteria was that it needed to feel great, be quickly added and removed from my rig, and not give me any reliability concerns. I took a bit of a risk with this handle because I wasn't sure if I could trust the vertical nato rail to not slip, but so far it's been great! The handle doesn't slide on, it clips on, and that helps it from not being able to slide off the camera. I've had one experience where I didn't tighten the clamp all the way, and the handle didn't let the camera fall off the nato mount. So it seems to have checked off all the boxes that I needed. It would be nice to have a rotating handle, like this one's big brother; however, with some of the long term reviews saying that the rotating mechanism loosened and failed, I feel like this handle might be a better investment for the long run. So far, I'm very happy with it, and I don't see myself getting rid of it anytime soon, even if I do upgrade. Other things that are great quality of life, but not a huge deal for me... firstly, the handle is reversible. When you unbox it, the handle and the nato arm are detached, and you get to choose which side you want it to be mounted on. Secondly, it has plenty of mounting points for accessories, which I've only rarely used, but when I needed them, I was very grateful that they were there! And lastly, the Allen wrench hidden in the bottom of the handle. I'm not sure why, but I ALWAYS loose the hidden tools on the bottom of handles and cages, but so far, this one has stayed in place and hasn't fallen out! Hopefully it stays that way! Overall, really great handle! I can't be surprised by SmallRig anymore at this point. It's really helped with run and gun shoots where I need just a bit more stability, but don't want to fly it on a gimbal. The nato clamp has been a lot more reliable than expected, and I'm glad I went this route! I hope this review helped ease some concerns about it, and also helped share some insight on why I went with this handle over some of the more expensive ones. Thank you SmallRig for another great product!

Handle gives that extra stable feel on the Night Eagle frame. Easily attaches with the NATO connector, and has a very secure feel. included screws and extra mounting points will very likely get used in future expansion of add-ons as my videography work grows.

The SmallRig Snap-On Quick-Lock NATO Side Handle uses the NATO connection protocol, so as long as the cage has NATO rails, you can connect it.

I have the SmallRig 4183B which has the NATO ...

I have the SmallRig 4183B which has the NATO rail. However, when I connect this handl and it snaps to the rail, the silver lever doesn't doesn't go all the way up. I'll goes maybe 3/4 of the way and seems to be stuck there. So, the connection isn't good and the handle just slips off. What am I doing wrong?

When attaching the SmallRig Snap-On Quick-Lock NATO Side Handle to the SmallRig 4183B Camera Cage there is resistance built into the NATO clamp to not go all the way up but when it locks it goes all the way down locking into place, as this is the natural design of the product. It sounds like you are using it incorrectly.
