Materials, fit and finish of this tripod are much better than I expected at this price. The tubes are finished in a beautiful brushed anodized finish, and all components appear to be made of aluminum the tripod is very sturdy. The included fluid head is solidly constructed and works very smoothly. Overall, this is a surprisingly nice tripod.

The SmallRig CT195 FreeBlazer Aluminum Video Tripod (B&H# SM4307) does offer damped movement in each direction. However, the exact method used to achieve that damping is not revealed by the manufacturer. Having said that, at this price level, it's common for any of a variety of methods to be used that would not generally meet most people's criteria to be considered a true fluid head, and yet this (and others) nevertheless do accomplish the objective of smoothing movement.

Yes, the included strap that comes with the SmallRig CT195 FreeBlazer Aluminum Video Tripod is removable from the tripod; it does not need to be used if you don't need it.
