Designed for select Nikon Z-series cameras, this Rotatable Horizontal-to-Vertical Mount Plate Kit from SmallRig quickly switches your camera between horizontal and vertical modes without adjusting the optical axis of the lens. The kit gives full access to the camera's LCD flip screen, buttons and ports and is compatible with Arca-type and Manfrotto RC2 tripod heads, as well as DJI RS-series gimbals. Operation is simple, and the lens collar mount plate rotates 90° by merely unlocking a knob to switch between horizontal and vertical shooting. Additionally, the unit features multiple mounting points including a strap slot, QD socket, and 1/4"-20 and 3/8"-16 holes. Nicely machined but not very flexible - doesn't work with zooms

Bought this for an upcoming gig where I will be shooting from a monopod for several hours and need to have the camera supported throughout. Seems like a great idea, and I absolutely love Smallrig for many things in my kit. But... this renders the Fn buttons near the lens collar either nearly useless (with the 24-120 f/4) or absolutely useless (on the Tamron 70-180 G2). In addition, on larger diameter lenses, rotating this collar will rub against the set screw and will turn your lens's ring or possibly mar the surface. It should be both a larger diameter, and have a longer mounting plate. I will unfortunately have to send this back and look elsewhere or figure something else out - Silence Corner currently looks best. If you're buying and intend to use with smaller lenses it's probably fine - just check out your lens's diameter, and compare it against the interior diameter of this ring before buying.

Regarding the SmallRig Rotatable Horizontal-to-Vertical Mount Plate Kit for Select Nikon Z-Series Cameras, the Nikon 70-200mm lenses have a lens collar and foot, so you would not use a mount like this with them. SmallRig does not list the Nikon NIKKOR Z 28-400mm f/4-8 VR Lens (B&H # NIZ2840048) as compatible either, unfortunately.
