ASUS Hyper M.2 x16 Gen5 Overview

Experience blistering fast data transfer speeds while expanding your storage with the Hyper M.2 x16 Gen5 Card from ASUS. With four M.2 2242/2260/2280/22110 slots with Q-Latch, you can install separately purchased PCIe 5.0 x4 NVMe SSDs. Then, installing this card into an available PCIe 5.0 x16 slot allows you to transfer up to 512 Gb/s with compatible Intel or AMD motherboards and processors.

Configure the RAID mode of your choice through your operating system. The built-in 6-pin PCIe power connector and two-phase power solution deliver up to 14W output to ensure smooth operation of your SSDs. Additionally, the full-cover heatsink works alongside the blower-style active fan to help maintain optimal temperatures and avoid speed throttling. You can adjust the fan speed using the Fan Xpert 4 software and a physical switch allows you manually turn off the fan for silent operation.

If you wish to use the ASUS Hyper M.2 x16 Gen5 Card as a means to have four separate SSDs, you could set the RAID mode to JBOD (Just a Bunch Of Discs), which would allow you to use each dive on it's own.

For Asus ProArt X870E-Creator Wifi the PCIE_1 and PCIE_2 share x16 lanes to the CPU. Allowed configurations are: 1) Video card no Hyper M.2 - PCIE_1x16 with PCIE_2x0 2) dual video cards at x8 but no Hyper M.2 - PCIE_1x8 with PCIE_2x8 3) Hyper M.2 with 4 nvme drives but no video card - PCIE_1x4/x4/x4/x4 with PCIE_2x0 4) Video card at x8 and Hyper M.2 with 2 nvme drives - PCIE_1x8 with PCIE_2x4/x4 I am using option 4. The Hyper M.2 has 2 matching 2210 enterprise NVME drives that would not fit in the M.2 motherboard slots. I am fine with PCIE5.0x8 bandwidth to my 5090 video card as this is equal to the bandwidth of PCIE4.0x16 My PCIE layout: Video Card 5090 on PCIE_1 at speed 5.0x8 Boot/OS on M.2_1 at speed 5.0x4 direct to CPU Storage1 on Hyper M.2_1 at speed 5.0x4 on PCIE_2 Storage2 on Hyper M.2_2 at speed 5.0x4 on PCIE_2 Connectx6 25GB Nic at speed 4.0x4 on PCIE_3 through chipset.
