it is very compact. The learning curve is not steep. The internal battery make logistic a bit easier, but I am not sure whether I will change my view on this as this trigger aged.

I’m reading that the X3 L only works on select Leica camera mod

I'm sorry, but Leica tells us that their Leica D-Lux 8 Digital Camera (B&H# LEDL8B) is not compatible with any flash or transmitter other than the small flash included with it. So, the Godox X3 L Touchscreen TTL Wireless Flash Trigger for Leica (B&H# GOXNANOL) will not work. Your best bet is to use the flash that comes with the D-Lux 8 and an optical sensor on the off-camera flash for synchronization.
