Watson FastPower V-Mount Battery Overview

The FastPower VM-140-FP Battery with USB Ports from Watson is built with advanced features for powering studio gear like cameras, lights, and monitors while rapidly charging peripherals like laptops, mobile devices, drones, and wireless transmitters. It features USB-C, USB-A, D-Tap, and 8/12 VDC barrel output ports and has an advanced LED control screen that provides constant updates on the battery's status, including incoming and outgoing currents of each port and real-time remaining capacity readouts.

The VM-140-FP has a 14.8V output and supports up to a 15A draw, with Power Delivery up to 100W, so attached devices receive optimal power for rapid charging. Depending on your gear's requirements, the USB-C output current is adjustable from 1 to 6.5A. Innovative operating modes allow the battery to be used as a portable power bank capable of charging another battery, recalibrating the battery, and limiting charging to 75% capacity for optimal long-term storage. It can be recharged with a V-mount charger or via the USB-C port.

V-Mount Power
This battery fits into most standard V-mount plates, and it will power any camera, light, or monitor that draws up to 15A.
D-Tap Connector
The battery has a D-Tap port to power gear like monitors, cameras, or lights, eliminating the need to add extra batteries or power cables to a setup to run these accessories.
Multiple USB Connections

The easy-to-read screen displays constant updates on the battery's status, including incoming and outgoing currents of each port. It also displays the battery's operating temperature and current draw so you can always operate within safe parameters. There is also a 4-LED battery status indicator.
Charging Options
The VM-140-FP can be recharged via a V-mount charger or the USB-C port.
Intelligent Control Circuit

Perfect for my needs

I use this to power an ENG shoulder rig: Fx6 + monitor + small panel light. Two of these are enough for a full day shoot. Note, if using this as a rear counterweight, keep in mind these are a lot lighter than bricks used to be. I actually use two on the back rails. Since I need to carry a spare anyway, might as well use it for leverage! 100W PD is amazing for fast charging and for powering stuff like little lights. The USB can run an Amaran Pano 60c at full brightness, and the Ray 120c at 65%. If I ever need to power bigger lights like the Aputure 400x, the 15 amp draw will be appreciated (compared to the 10a common to batteries in this size and class). The 1/4" mounting points are handy. When powering a mirrorless camera, I can just clamp this to a tripod leg and run it all day. I've dropped one of these onto concrete from head height, and it barely scuffed a corner. I'll update this review if I run into longer-term durability issues.

This Watson FastPower VM-210-FP V-Mount Battery is part of Watson's "pro" series of batteries, and I can see why. It's awesome. I have been using it for a variety of productions, and its versatility is what really makes it stand out. This battery is not just about raw power, but also how easily it integrates into different setups. It supports up to a 15A draw with Power Delivery up to 100W, which has been more than enough to power my cameras, lights, monitors, and accessories without any issues. The range of outputs is excellent. Between the V-mount connection, D Tap, USB C, USB A, and DC barrel ports, I can run/charge multiple devices, even a phone or laptop. And having multiple devices powered from one battery keeps my rig cleaner and cuts down on extra cables and batteries. I also really appreciate the thoughtful mounting options built into this battery. The cold shoe mount and the two 1/4"-20 female threads make it easy to attach directly to a rig, cage, or stand without needing extra clamps. But it also includes a lanyard, which is surprisingly useful if you need to hang the battery from a light stand or keep it secured during a fast-moving setup. These small details make a big difference on set, and I really appreciate it. The LED screen is another standout feature. It shows a lot of helpful information at a glance, including remaining capacity and real time power draw from each port. This makes power management much easier, especially on longer shoots where you want to avoid surprises. In summary, I feel this is a powerful, flexible, and well-designed battery that clearly had working creators in mind.
