Fantastic improvement over the Amazon options

I've purchased a few different versions of this type of mount on Amazon. I do a lot of video recording for my kids' volleyball teams and in general the amazon options start being loose and twist on the tripod before the end of the 2nd tournament. The build quality is far higher on this mount and it performed flawlessly recording the state tournament. I will be buying one more of these for my other recording rig.

I was surprised by the quality of this support. Strong magnets and all all-metal build. The two hinges (holding the magsafe head and connecting to the cold shoe) are super tight. If you adjust the position of this thing while it's on your rig, the whole thing will move, but I suspect those will loosen up a bit with time.

Is there a way to mount this directly to a 1/4inch
Is there a way to mount this directly to a 1/4inch half cage or full cage? I only have a hotshoe and I don't want to damage it.
The SmallRig Support with Cold Shoe Mount for MagSafe Phones, B&H # SM5156, features a female 1/4-20" mount on the bottom, in addition to the cold shoe mount. This allows it to be attached to any compatible accessory with a 1/4-20'' male mount. If the cage lacks a male 1/4-20'' thread, you can utilize a coupler, such as the CAMVATE Male-to-Male Screw Adapter Set (3 Adapters), B&H # CAC1230.
