SmallRig Carbon Fiber Video Monopod Reviews

Great Monopod!

When I saw the features, I knew I had to get it. Shot my first project with a Pyxis 6K mounted on it. It performed great and was a real time-saver compared to dragging a full-size tripod around for the run-and-gun type shoot. Highly recommend this monopod and other SmallRig products.

I wasn't sure about getting this 5565 Monopod, but Smallrig has a pretty good reputation for their products. I use it mainly in the following configuration: I use a Gimbal, a Nikon Z8, a 180-600 Nikkor Lens, and a 5" external monitor. I use it for both stills and video. It's pretty stable, especially at lower height settings. I don't use it unsupervised ever. It's fast to set up and use for both stills and video. It's very well made and is pretty easy to carry, even on a long day of shooting. I'm 80 YO. I wish they made tripods with a similar design for time-lapse and long exposure shooting. You can do some long exposure stills, provided your on a pretty stable ground, and it's not too breezy. I've only had it for a few months. 1/2026 The handle to operate the up-and-down part is a little stiff, but I would rather have that than to lose or be too sloppy. All you need is one foot on the base, and you can raise it and lower it pretty easily. I would like to see Smallrig offer separate camera snap-in mounts so that when I'm on a shoot, I can swap out the camera or video rigs much more quickly. For now, I love it, and it works very well! Highly recommended.
