Could this be used as a carry on case for a flight?
Yep, all day long. Goes in overhead bin on every commercial jet I've tried, but smaller regional turboprop planes will make you check it planeside. But that's ok since the case is waterproof and bash proof and everything should be fine even if they put it on the bottom of the stack or leave it out in the rain. Looks like you want the red one, so that should be easy to find later...
