Really wanted to like it

I have had no luck getting any type of suction. At first I thought I got a bad apple of a unit so I contacted B&H and they happily sent me a new one. Same thing, no matter how hard I tried I couldn’t achieve any suction. I tried both units on clean bathroom mirrors, windows, smooth kitchen granite countertops, etc. I tried putting ample force myself while pumping and had no luck. I would pump for a solid 10-15min straight which is infuriating when you just want something to work as its supposed to. My goal that I had for this was to put a lightweight rig on video shoots I do with cars but I really don’t trust this thing from my experience. I don’t want to go on a shoot and people are waiting on me pumping for days trying to get suction. I just want to clamp it down and move on. Again I was really wanting to like this thing.

Works well

Haven't used it with camera gear yet, but have mounted it to several surfaces for testing. When the unit does attach to a surface, it is solid and holds well. Will have to continue to experiment with this, but it works well so far. Well made, the rubber base may need to get broken in as I had a difficult time getting it to release initially, but works fine now.

I just bought 2 of these and am having trouble getting to stick. I picked a completely flat glass surface to try on. No matter how fast or for how long I pump, they only partially pump down. Barely enough to hold their own weight. Am I missing something obvious?

Try them on other surfaces that should definitely work, & if they still don't work, it would seem they are defective.

question

Is this going to be able to support a pistol grip and a lumix dslr?? I am trying to get a suction cup so I can record my travels and can't make my choice. Stuck between this and the avenger f-1000. Any feedback is welcome. The avenger I need a manfrotto clamp with it or some adapter in order to make the rig. This looks like its ready to use and the dslr can be mounted straight on it. I need to know if it will be good with a sturdy pistol grip so I can change different angles while shooting. Thanks

question

can someone confirm that the base is 14,7cm wide ?it seems that it is 6cm on manfrotto website
Asked by: Anonymous
Manfrotto must have meant to say 6 inches. I am not in my studio, but would estimate the diameter at 6 . It is a great tool for mounting a DSLR, but I would buy three and connect them, if you are wanting to mount to the exterior of a vehicle.
