    Raynox HD-6600 Pro Reviews

HD-6600 43mm 0.66x Pro Wide Angle Lens is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 32.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not for Panasonic HMC 40! This lens was recommended to me for my Panasonic HMC-40 camcorder. It delivers a great image but, definitely isn't zoom through for the last 1/3 of the zoom range. It loses complete focus during zooming. If you've got the HMC-40 unless you're ok not zooming this isn't the lens for you. Lens is low priced and seems to be of high quality. It does have lots of features like threads for filters and a rubber ring to help you screw it to the camera easier. I sure wish it was zoom through with my camera. Had to send it back to B&H. B&H didn't give me any problems on the return so far. Great company not so great lens for my camera

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I found the lens fulfills it's claims I own a Canon hv30 and was concerned about zoom-through; also that some recommend getting the 58mm model hd-6600 but so far have found performace to be excellent. I also had looked into Canon's equivalent, but the Raynox advantage was in three areas: 1. Raynox was about $30 less expensive. 2. Raynox's Black color matches my hv30 where Canon is only silver. 3. Raynox comes with front threading and Canon does not. Yes, though only a beginner, I did some research before my purchase and, as I said, Raynox has fulfilled it's claims and I'm very satisfied.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good lens, despite confusion I bought this for my Canon HV30 after reading the positive reviews here. I then heard that Raynox and others recommend the 52mm version plus step-up ring for my camera. Raynox evens includes stern warnings on its website with blurry corners in images. While this lens goes soft when you zoom through it, at wide angle settings I'm not seeing blurring in the corners. That may be because I have a polarizer behind it. I know that sounds hacky, but its as sharp at wide as it usually is, and 72mm polarizers aren't cheap. Its pretty bulky. You'll want a big pocket because if you do any zooming, you'll want to take it off. Comes in a nice, tough, plastic box/case

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A must for indoor video I bought this lens for my Canon Vixia camcorder so that I could more easily capture indoor shots. What a difference! The wider angle really opens up the shot makes it much easier to video events like birthday guests around the table or a more panoramic view outside. The lens simply screws on and away you go! The quality seems great with no noticable effect on my HD video. The only negative is that it does add some weight to my very light camcorder but not enough to be awkward or tiring. Overall, if you're not shooting professional video and want to make those videos or still a little wider then this is a good choice.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Flare is horrible The curve of the front lens makes this wide angle converter unusable around lights and in sunlight. The flares are impossible to get rid of. Unless you're lighting is perfect don't even consider this lens. I had mine and was forced to send it back. Softened images around the edges and camera went out of focus during zoom through close ups. Even with a polarizing filter the flare didn't go away. Green diamonds everywhere on the view screen so bad that the camera tried to focus on them instead of the subject. I would not recommend this product. I tried this lens with an AG-HMC 40 camera that I use for an outdoor show. Good thing B&H has such a good return policy

Rated 4 out of 5 by from As good as it gets I bought this wide angle lens to complement my sanyo xacti HD2000. It is a great lens - for the price. The barrel distortion is very low, not absent, but more than acceptable. I find it gets a bit soft on the edges... Nothing dramatic, but still noticeable. A tiny - very little - chromatic aberration is also present in the corners, but you have to look for it, to see it - and it is only in specific scenes, with high contrast elements on the edges. I am very satisfied with the lens. Finally get a decent wide view with the xacti, and it gives it a killer look, too ! I definitely recommend it to anyone looking to widen the field of view of their camcorder.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great value Used on a Panasonic HD camcorder (HDC-TM300). Much less expensive than a genuine Panasonic lens. Main application is to get 2/3 of a football field in view from the spectators stand. Unit feels solid & heavy. No problems screwing it on to the camcorder. Good looking video under nighttime lights; seemed to let plenty of light through. Some flairing from bright lights, but that's hard to avoid. My untrained eye could not discern any edge distortion. Some additional softness when zoomed in, but that's not normal usage of a wide angle lens. Comes with lens caps on both ends (push to release type on front), and servicable soft plastic box with foam that should protect it well when not in use. Great value; recommended.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Must Have Attachment in Your Camera Bag After reading the pros and cons about this lens, I made the decision to purchase it. Professionally, I do not know what there is not to like about this lens. I have used it in many different applications from indoor to outdoor use and it performs exceptionally well - even when zooming in. As a professional photographer and videographer, it is a wonderful addition to my arsenal of cameras and lenses. I wouldn't leave home without it...
