Nikon 2252 overview

  • 1Description

The 62mm Circular Polarizer II Filter from Nikon is an upgraded version of the original Nikon Circular Polarizer. This filter is now slimmer in design, leaving the front and rear threads the same size as opposed to the original version that featured a larger front thread. The filter is now multi-coated which is a benefit in that it minimizes any flare and glare that reaches the sensor or film plane of your camera. This means more saturation and clearer images that are more crisp and contrasty.

The front ring rotates with the polarization visible in the viewfinder or on your LCD screen. When shooting on a bright day, this means you can control the "blueness" of the sky as well as having control of how distinct you want the cloud formations. For the outdoor shooter, this filter is a must since it is the only way to make a blue sky bluer. In addition, when shooting into water or glass, you can minimize or eliminate the reflections often associated with landscape or scenic photography. Therefore, if you're shooting a store window or inside a museum into a showcase, glass obstructions will no longer be a problem. A polarizer tends to have its maximum effect when used at right angle to the sun. A polarizing filter, along with a UV filter should be a part of everyone's gear.

Note: Circular polarizers are specifically designed for use with auto-focus SLR cameras (They will also work on manual systems without problems)

This version of the filter is now slimmer than the original version that had a larger front thread. Presently, both front and rear threads are the same size
The glass is now multi-coated minimizing flare and glare on the sensor or film plane
Effective with cameras that use beam splitters in the path of the TTL light meter and with AF cameras
This filter eliminates ultraviolet rays from outdoor shots as well as polarizing the light to remove reflections, and increase color saturation, without affecting the overall color balance

    Nikon 2252 reviews

62mm Circular Polarizer II Filter is rated 4.9 out of 5 by 25.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works on 20mm f2.8 I recently tried using my standard 62mm polarizer (of another brand) on my Nikon 20mm f2.8 AFD and the results on a full-frame D700 camera were that every photo looked like it had been shot through a porthole. This Nikon filter solved that problem completely. Now there is not even a hint of vignetting in the extreme corners. This polarizer rotates easily and also sports front filter threads so you can mount an additional filter. Some competing brands do not allow this on their slim filters. ALso, the lens cap snaps right into the front threads, so I just leave the filter on the lens most of the time with the lens cap on it. This filter has lens coatings on it, which ought to improve image quality.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nikon Circular Polarizer II - Boss I have a 77mm Circular Polarizer II Filter on my Nikon 17-55mm f/2.8G ED-IF AF-S DX Nikkor Zoom Lens. I use it to cut glare on bright scenes and to minimize reflections on glass enclosures at the zoo when photographing orangutans. I wanted one for my Nikon 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6 G ED-IF AF-S VR DX Zoom Nikkor Lens, which requires a 72 mm filter. I bought the 62 mm filter by mistake, so I got an RA from B&H (a remarkably simple process) and ordered the 72 mm Circular Polarizer II Filter. What can I say? It's Nikon. It's boss. So is B&H Photo Video.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from 62mm Polarizer Great product but very sensitive to finger prints and soiling. Have to be very careful with how you handle the lens.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from good polarizer, and with front threads! A good polarizer with less light loss than some others. I like it for its thin mount (less vignetting) and its front threads, so that I can attach the standard lens cap or a screw-on lens hood. The price is not the cheapest, but not outrageous, either.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is the BEST polarizer! I love how I can still put my cover on over the polarizer, Its very nice, makes all my images look 10x better, worth every penny esp if you are into a lot of outside photography!I twist mine and I can look into the water and see so much as well as the sky and even leaves in trees exc.. I LOVE it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exactly what I expected from Nikon Have used a polarizing filter since I was in high school (many, many years ago). The Nikon name denotes quality and I'm not disappointed.
