I bought one of these for a wedding I was filming as an emergency backup to capture audio at the reception in case the venue didn't have a proper hookup. For whatever reason, the DJ wasn't able to get output to my sound recorder, so I used this to plug into the back of his speaker. That saved the day.

I want to hook up a mixer XLR out to Zoom H4N XLR in - is this the right attenuator?
It may work fine - but hard to say depending upon the mixer's output.Itt is a good idea to keep several attenuators of varying values on hand.

Is this attenuator applicable for condenser mics, in other words is it capable of passing phantom power?
I have only used this for output reduction. I can't imagine why you would please this in a mic line.
