Can a magic arm be mounted onto this?
Pretty sure you'd be able to attach it okay, however I wouldn't recommend it. The weight would pull it over. It doesn't hold a whole lot of weight. You could always use it with a sand bag, but even then I'd be hesitant.

Do these really collapse down to 12 ? I need something small for travel.
They are very small footprint - to the length of the first node - just make sure you have a sand bag or equivalent - you can always use your tripod adding a bit for lights on top
