Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Sturdiest I feel like I really went overboard in purchasing this. I needed something sturdy for my huge door-sized softbox, and this certainly does the trick. I don't need something that's far taller than my roof, however. I probably should have purchased something shorter and slightly more lightweight, as I shoot on location and haul my gear everywhere. But this is something that will last forever and ever and ever. I love the wheels. Why did I ever work without wheels? I want wheels on everything now. As a side note, I had trouble finding a case large enough for this light stand, which is 53 collapsed. I went with an Arriba rolling case.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Rock! So, I've gone through most of the light stands on the market. Here's my thoughts... like spending your money on good glass, don't waste any money on the lighter weight junk. I'm sorry, but I wish someone had told me this when I started. By the time you sandbag, add a light head, add a softbox (or anything else) and try to set the stand at it's height you will clearly understand why I don't try to save $100 on other stands. Although others claim this is heavy, to big, etc... I'd ask, What are you shooting? This is portable, folded it will stand up without falling over, and is stable with almost any strobe based system you'll ever put on it. I even use the Matthews Mini Boom and a huge 86 PLM from Paul C Buff. No problems. Other than rolling it through a door opening, which you can do easily, this stand is rock solid. Don't waste your money on other stands that you will regret spending the money on later. Do it once, do it right. Enjoy. :)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Invaluable w/ an important caveat. It's extremely useful to lift a light source way up high and very easily make micro-adjustments to its location/ aim. You should definitely get a boom to go w/ it. Caveat: When you have anything of weight mounted on the baby-pin tip, make SURE you know which riser will come down when you loosen a height-adjustment screw otherwise a painful and bloody pinch-wound may result. Fortunately each riser section is rubber O-ring dampened so like today when my pricey Profoto B1 w/ Magnum Reflector came slamming down, it' merely bounced back up (after pinching a sliver of skin off).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfection These are the extremely stable, fast to put up and tear down (about 5 seconds), and roll incredibly smooth. The locking casters are also very strong. I shoot about 30% in my studios, and 70% on location and I am still amazed how fast it is for me to transport my gear. I purchased 3 of these and have no regrets; they do everything I want 100% of the time and have no cons. I recommend these to anyone that wants professional gear and never have to replace it in their lifetime.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from You really can't go wrong Having come from smaller Manfrotto stands, I am very impressed by the build quality of this junior stand. It's big, heavy, and looks like it will last a lifetime. The light I have on here is 25lbs, so the wheels are a huge plus for me. I don't always have assistants to help me move lights around, so it's nice to have the ability to simply roll the light wherever I want it. The wheel locks seem to work very well and keep the light in place when I want it to be stationary. It should be noted that the photograph of the product is not how it actually looks. The little chrome cross-beams are actually orange. It looks very nice this way, but if you're expecting all chrome, you will have to look elsewhere. Check google images for a more accurate photo of this product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Not just another stand Before buying this light stand i knew i want and need something that can hold big strobes with light modifiers, be easy to store, cary around and easy to handle. so i was looking for a stand that can give me a big verity of uses for a good price. Now I have been using the Baby Jr. Triple Riser Stand by Matthews for few weeks now and its great, its very sturdy and open and fold easily, the base is strong but still very easy to move around. due to the size and the weight of the stand i didn't need to put too much weights to hold it down. I had some photoshoot at a different studio and it was easy to fold, take it to the car and carry with me. Im using this stand as my main light stand and due to its sturdiness i add a big boom so i can add more flexibility and i just love it. I can wait to have a big studio to buy another stand like that!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid and reliable... This has become my favourite light stand. I also own five Manfrotto light stands. It's solid and well built. The wheels make this convenient. This can handle my Profoto D1's and other lighting gear with ease. Minor issue is that it's not air cushioned (like my Manfrotto...) but I can live with it. Have just ordered another one.
