    Matthews H386025 reviews

Baby Jr. Steel Wheeled Stand is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 18.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Must-have for any production company Like most Matthews gear, this stand is well-built and functional. The stand is sturdy, easy to use and makes moving around your lights, video monitors or whatever you mount on a stand much easier and efficient. Once you use them, you'll always want to have them on your productions. I purchased three of them to use with my larger Kino Flo lights and have since bought several more to use with my larger ARRI lights and even my video monitors. The wheels roll very smoothly and the way the legs fold up allow you to store the stand upright as the wheels are tucked away above the ground. Great product!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Baby Beast Got this to handle my large Rotalux softbox in my small studio. I had been using a very robust fixed light stand with a boom arm. The fixed stand setup was unstable so I did some homework and changed to this Matthews Baby Jr. What a huge difference! From this experience I'd say that Matthews deserves their excellent reputation. The stand is large, strong, stable and solidly put together. All the parts fit and function as they should. The wheels move easily and track true. This is a very high quality piece of gear! Perhaps a professional operating in a professional studio might be able to find fault but for me, in my small set up, this the ultimate wheeled stand! I'll soon be getting another.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Incredible stand of the highest quality I've know of Matthews gear for a few years. This is the first time I purchased a piece of their gear. This is the best light stand I now own. The build quality is of the highest standard. The wheels roll smoothly. My older light stands seem flimsy by comparison, if I bump one of them the flash head has some vibration and bobbles back and forth. Not so with the Matthews stand, if I bump it, it remains solid. The price may seem high for a light stand, but the old adage is true, you get what you pay for, and this is worth every penny. I'll be buying more Matthews gear in the future. This stand will last a very long time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Buy I purchased the Junior version of this earlier, and I loved everything about it. The reason why I decided to get this Baby version, as well, was that I wanted something portable for on location use while still useful for indoor studio purposes. When folded, it fits nicely into my Tenba bag. Grabbing by one of the folded legs offers a very nice weight balance. It's just heavy enough to provide a solid use outdoors in windy conditions while light enough for carrying. As someone else said, it's slightly lighter than a comparable C-stand. For an exclusively indoor use, I'd recommend getting the Junior version. For both indoor and the outdoor use with greater portability, I'd highly recommend this Baby version.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great stands A very very solid light stand. Everything works perfectly on it. Folds up easily and actually takes up much less room when folded than anticipated. The wheels are high quality and very smooth with a brake on each wheel. Even though they are steel they are fairly light and easy to move around. The only regret is waiting so long to buy some. Buy the double riser stand if you want a smaller footprint and a slightly lighter stand to carry. For the price they are worth every penny. For the quality they should cost a lot more. As for the no air cushion like in the Manfrotto stands, which was a concern of mine, I think I prefer it, with out the air cushion. It is quicker and easier to adjust, and when raising the center column you are not fighting the air cushion making it easier to lift. If considering buying another brand like Kupo, I would stick with the Matthews, they have been trusted name for a long time and will continue to be. These stands are designed to last a lifetime of use and abuse, and I will definitely be buying more in the very near future.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Very well made but it will not support more the 10 pouds! If you mount more then 10 pound of wait with a boom arm on it it is really difficult to lower it or raise it you have to address this issue, is less beefy than a C stand the lower part with wheel is fantastic I will say perfect. I'm returning this unit for the more beefy one Matthews Senior Double Riser Rolling Steel Stand - 10'6 B&H # MALSS MFR # H386027 That all.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Professional Grade Stand I am a professional environmental portrait photographer. I use this stand on location to support an avenger mini boom to support a hair light, or an area where I need an extension arm or boom for hard to access spot. This stand is very sturdy, can suuport heavier light fixtures. I love the way that this stand is built, all steel construction. I love the overall size of this stand, easy to transport. The weight of this stand is manageable. The handles to lock down the stand are great, and hold sandbags easily. The wheels and wheel locks are great! The only gripe I have about this stand is that the overall base footprint is not very wide. This means that I have to use a few more sandbags than I would like to hold things down and prevent tip-over. I wish that the base was 12- 18 inches wider overall. But for the size of the stand, this is not a deal breaker for me. I love this stand, and will probably get 2 more.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Built like a tank I know that it is overkill, but I bought this to support a Matthews Mini-boom that I used for an overhead mic in video shoots. The stand is rock-solid and feels like it will last forever. It moves smoothly in any direction and the wheel-locks are first rate. I have a feeling I'll find a need for a few more of these as I expand my studio.
