How does the wire used for aiming the mic actually function? Does it attach to the ceiling? Hang freely along with the mic?
Asked by: Matthew
The Audio-Technica Pro 45W Cardioid Condenser Hanging Microphone (White) has included cabling that hangs freely. It connects to an XLR ceiling plate.

question

I'm theatre director in a school with a carpeted (throughout-including stage)lecture hall venue that we use as our theatre. Maximum size- 300 people. No curtains, fly space, wings, etc. Quality Sound has been tricky for years. Would this be appropriate for my situation?

These are very good microphones. If you are trying to mic a choir, and you can hang the mics in the correct position, I believe they would work well. Without knowing what you plan to do with these and your layout, it's impossible to accurately answer your question.

question

How much area does one microphone cover?
Asked by: Anonymous
According to the spec sheet the the mics have a 120 degree pickup and should be placed 3x the distance from the mic to the closest source across the front of the stage and 2x the same distance from front to back. So if the Mic is 4 feet above the closest performers head, they should be 12 foot apart across the front of the stage and 8 foot spacing from the front to the rear. By going higher you can increase the distance apart but these mics are prone to feedback so closer will work better and give youe more gain before feedback.
