Nikon DG-2 Reviews

A bit kludgy but it works

First, a word to D500 users: the B&H Overview page for the DG-2 says that it is compatible with the D500, while the Compatibility page does not list the D500 and, if you check the Show compatibility box on that page and select D500, it says that it is not recommended. The DG-2 works with the D500 using the DK-18 adapter. I was interested in the DG-2 as an aid to focusing my Nikon PC-E 45mm tilt-shift lens when I'm shooting outside. The viewfinder's focusing aid can be hard to see on bright days and I thought that this might make fine adjustments easier. It does. In use, I flip back and forth between the magnifier being up and down because you can't see the entire viewfinder through the DG-2. It's a bit clumsy but it works. More of a worry to me is that the DG-2 hangs off the camera in a way that seems to guarantee that it will get snagged on something while in my bag. It hasn't so far, but I suspect it will sooner or later.

Asked by: Mitchell
The Nikon DG-2 Eyepiece Magnifier can fit onto the Nikon F2as camera, depending on which finder it has on the camera. That model camera, the finder/prism, could be changed out.
