Furman PST-8 DIG Overview

The Furman PST-8D Digital Power Station features Furman's SMP circuitry which incorporates Linear Filtering Technology (LiFT) and a high current TVZ-MOV to insure that any electronic device is fed clean, filtered AC power. This dramatically reduces noise, ensuring consistent peak performance from all equipment.

Furman's proprietary Linear Filtering Technology (LiFT) suppresses AC noise evenly, assuring maximum performance from your system. SMP circuitry offers the highest degree of protection against electrical surges and spikes, and does this without sacrificing itself or any of its components. In addition, the Extreme Voltage Shutdown circuit automatically turns off the unit when it is fed 135 VAC or higher, protecting itself and connected equipment from the extreme voltage.

I needed to run multiple 3d printers off of a single circuit and was having problems with them interfering with each other and drawing too much power. This unit not only solved both of those issues but it’s incredibly well built.

This is my 4th Furman surge protector. I have 2 smaller PST 6 units for a TV and Modem and a PST8D for our large widescreen and sound system and another for a smaller widescreen. We live in an area of Tennessee that gets frequent storms and 2x our home was struck by lightening. On both occasions the PST8D protected 100% of our equipment. About 2 years ago one of the units was faulty and still under the 3-year warranty. I called Furman an after sending them photos of the old unit, they sent me a new PST8D free of charge. The service is excellent, the price is very fair considering the high quality build and performance of each of the units. If you have storm concerns in your area, I can't recommend the Furman line enough! It has saved me thousands of dollars. A Caution!! The Furman warranty is only good if purchased from an authorized Furman dealer. B&H Photo is an authorized Furman dealer and a great provider. When their store were closing for Passover, the B&H staff rushed my order so I had it within 2 days...free shipping and no extra charge. I have been purchasing from B&H for decades and always get fast, professional advice and competitive prices.

Does this PST-8D have Line to Ground (L-G) and Neutral to Ground (N-G) protection? Apparently the label on the protector itself says "Voltage Protection Rating: L-N 330V". So no L/G and N/G protection in such an advanced unit?

A UPS should only be plugged in directly to the wall; we don't recommend connecting a UPS to the Furman PST-8D Digital Power Station (BH #FUPST8D) or any similar device.

Please give some examples of digitla equipment and examples of analog equipment. Is my mac desktop digital? My mac laptop when connected via its power supply, digital? My powered speakers?

Most modern electronics are digital. This is a generalization, as some digital devices may have an analog component, possibly co-existing on the same integrated circuit. An older washing machine, with a mechanical timer would be considered 'analog'. If the timing mechanism used integrated logic circuitry, it would be considered'digital'. A solid state audio power amplifier would be considered 'analog', yet it might have a 'digital' switching power supply. Just plug in what you have and ignore the labels...you will be fine.
