What's the general maximum recording distance for basic dialogue work? How far away is it still usable with a good quality preamps?
Asked by: Stone
The general rule for getting good dialogue with any shotgun mic, is to get as close as possible to the subject. 5 to 6 feet would be the maximum distance, based on surrounding ambient sound, that is suggested.

question

Why does this description contradict itself re: midrange frequencies and off-axis performance?
Asked by: Brian
Coloration vs Rejection. It has smooth off-axis rejection without coloring the sound. It sounds like it simply attenuates off axis dialogue while keeping the frequency response consistent. It feels neutral along the spectrum, but just enjoys a transparent affinity towards dialogue frequencies. Essentially, it's very forgiving while still being directional.

How much humidity can the CMIT 5 handle? I live in Texas and just curious if this is a good option or if I should go with something else. Thanks!
Asked by: Jonathan
Our customers from Florida, Hawaii, the Caribbean,Thailand, and the Phillippines all report excellent resultsfor many years of working with this microphone in very high humidty environments. It is tough enough for ENG use and location film shoots. Many televison crews use this mic to shoot outdoor sporting events in all sorts of weather conditions. Note : Use it with a shock mount to avoid any handling noise.

question

why is the grey version cost more than the blue one?
Asked by: Anonymous
The standard surface finish color of the CMIT 5U is blue. The CMIT5U is available in Antracite Gray as a special order item and custom made from Schoeps. Functionally both units are identical.
