Pelican 1550 Overview

The Pelican 1550 Case with Foam (Silver) is an unbreakable, watertight, airtight, chemical-resistant, corrosion, and dustproof hard case used to carry any kind of equipment that needs to be protected from the elements. It is made of Ultra-High Impact structural copolymer for strength and durability. It includes a 0.25" neoprene O-ring, easy-open double-throw latches that seal perfectly, and an automatic pressure equalization valve for quick equalization after changes in atmospheric pressure. The case has a comfortable rubber overmolded handle.

The 1550 case has the following certificates: IP67 (Ingress Protection) = 1-meter submersion for 30 minutes, MIL C-4150J (Military Standard), Defense Standard 81-41/STANAG4280 and ATA 300 specifications for transit cases.

This case has interior dimensions of 18.4 x 14 x 7.6 inches. The external dimensions are 20.6 x 16.9 x 8.1 inches.

Can you fly with this case as a carry on? It looks an inch too wide but I wonder if airlines care.

Its larger than the accepted standard for carry-on roller bags in the US. You'll run a very high risk of having it gate-checked. You're safer using the Pelican 1510. I've carried it on countless domestic flights.
