    Pelican 1550 reviews

1550 Case with 4-Piece Foam Set (Black) is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 142.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Looks and performs great! I used the 1550 case to secure my quadcopter and camera gear for travel. The diced foam on the inside makes it very easy to customize for your gear. I even made double layered or secret spots on the second layer of diced foam. The yellow really pops and makes me feel less like an amateur and more like a professional. Super durable and waterproof! This case was $ less than a similar custom quadcopter case, but I made the 1550 fit way more things. Very happy with this purchase. Only downside is its weight. Pretty hefty, especially after all the gear is inside. Totally worth it for the durability and reassurance of protected gear.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good alternative to a soft Bag Got this when my camera equipment outgrew the Canon gadget bag. I love having a case that can fit all my equipment in one place and keep it safe. It was a tight fit (see picture) but fits two gripped 7D Bodys, 70-200, 100mm, 17-55, 10-22, 50mm, a 10 netbook (BARELY-EEEPC) and two filter cases deep. I love how sturdy it feels and I was worried everything wouldn't fit, but it was great. Just make sure to PLAN before you start picking foam... It is very heavy fully loaded, I would get the 1560 if you have trouble carrying things.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Indestructible case This case is TOUGH! I use it to transport handguns and optics in, which can add up to a lot of weight. That combined with my clumsiness could be bad, but the case holds up. I really like that it is waterproof and self equalizes. It really keeps moisture out well, and the pressure relief valve is a must for flying with a case that closes up this tight, especially if you fly with the case. I am however, disappointed that Pelican doesn't warranty against shark bite, bear attack or damage caused by children under five. I have this horrible problem with my cases being bit by 4 year old bearsharks.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Beware! I received my Pelican 1550 case from B&H Friday. That night I custom shaped the Pluck & Pick foam interior (solid foam is not offered) for my Nikon D4 camera and a couple of lenses. I took the camera and lens out of the case 4 times on Saturday and already the foam Pick and Pluck pieces are starting to come apart! I called Pelican and all they would tell me was that it wasn't a warranty issue and that I should contact B&H. I'm not sure what B&H could or would do at this point. Even if they replaced the foam, it would be the same worthless Pick and Pluck liner! I am now trying to locate a foam supplier who will sell me a solid sheet of 1.3 (or 1.7) charcoal polyurethane foam. I shouldn't have to do this with a brand new case! I had a Halliburton case for 35 years without any foam problems. The only thing worse than the foam is Pelican's refusal to acknowledge that it is a problem!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Durable and worth the price... Like many others, at first I questioned if a Pelican case would be overkill. I'm a semi-pro, shoot one or two weddings a year for friends, and mostly use my camera for my hobby. I finally decided to buy the 1550 and have not looked back. Even if you don't travel much to areas where moisture or shock/impact hazards are a concern, I actually find the case to be most valuable right at home by using it as the place I permanently store my camera (rather than in a soft case or the original box). That way, I don't need to worry abotu the dogs, kids, or other things damaging my expensive equipment. For fun, I stood on it and it showed no signs of stress (I weigh 230 lbs).

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Pelican Case I use this case for my mobile video and audio equipment. I have been able to fit in one Sony field camera and a set of two wireless Sennheiser wireless microphones. Add all of the accessories and batteries and your case is full. The case and padding keep the equipment in pristine condition.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Dopesauce I bought this to store my Allen & Heath Xone:42 mixer (standard 12 mixer size) after my dumb self dropped the thing out of its original cardboard box onto the sidewalk face first on the way to a gig. Am I overcompensating a bit? Maybe. Do I regret this purchase? No. First off, the mixer fits perfectly once you pull out the bottom thin foam layer. No rattling around, which is more than can be said for most road cases. It's also very lightweight, but absolutely built like a tank. I have no concerns about the safety of my mixer. Simply put, you can't go wrong with this thing, or with Pelican in general.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pelican#1550 Silver case w/foam. Purchased this case to store & transport safely a pair of Minox Demo MD-62-ED spotting scopes: 1/straight & 1/angled. (Pelican #1520 case was just a little too small/tight for both scopes.) #1550 case left just enough room around scopes to safely protect them. I have several different sizes of Pelican case that I store & transport spotting scopes, binoculars and my DSLR Camera gear in. They are THE BEST you can buy! They are worth whatever the current asking price is on the model you want. And I would venture to say that B&H has the best price in the nation on them! I have one smaller case that I purchased back in the mid 1970's that is still waterproof & going strong!
