Savage 1-140 Overview

  • 1Description

Photograph people and products against a smooth, uncluttered background with this 140" x 105' roll of #01 Super White Widetone Seamless Background Paper from Savage. To facilitate even lighting, the surface of the paper is non-reflective and has a fine-tooth finish. In addition to photography, the paper may be used for events, decorations, banners, and more. This super white paper is the type used for classic, pure white backgrounds.

The paper density is 100 pounds, or 163 gsm, an easy-to-handle resilient thickness of 7.6 mil, and comes wound on a core with a 2.63" interior diameter. A plastic sleeve protects the roll in transit and can be saved to provide continued protection when the paper is not in use. The paper should be stored vertically to reduce the possibility of warping and other damage. Photographers often use clamps to secure the paper to a backdrop stand as well as tape to secure the paper to the floor if rolled out for full-body shots. The paper is acid-free and 100% recyclable.

Due to the manufacturing process, it's not uncommon for sizes to fluctuate slightly. In most cases the amount of fluctuation won't matter.

Savage 1-140 Reviews

Widetone Seamless Background Paper (#01 Super White, 140" x 105') is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 30.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice addition to the collection I bought this roll along with a roll of black seamless for use in high school sports portraits and senior portraits. Heavy duty and can take some traffic. Keep a dry towel handy since footprints will show up very easily. The only rub is it is heavy and a little tricky to handle by yourself. If you order one roll, be sure to order another color at the same time. Since it is truck ship you might as well get another color.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent product I use the product in my studio and it works perfectly! Strong enough and big enough. It is very heavy, you have to leave it hanging.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not as useful a gray as we thought Everything's fine with this roll (man, the 12-foot rolls are heavy!), but we really miss the deeper gray (Thunder Gray, I think) from our smaller studio setup. This one is just harder to keep light off of, to get a nice variety of tones and hues. Sometimes it almost feels like you're working on white. I really, really wish Thunder Gray was available in 140!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for Video too I have this in a video production studio and I much prefer this paper to cloth green screens so far. Less wrinkles and seems easier to light nice and evenly. Glad I went with the photowide as well, I would suggest it if you have the space and budget!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It's a green screen, alright We were using a cloth green screen on stands in our studio, and we recently decided to update with this paper roll and a wall-mounted apparatus. What a difference! Everything is clean and tidy now, mounts neatly on the wall, and yes, not surprisingly, it STILL works as a green screen... The 12' length certainly makes full-body work a lot easier. But hey, lighting the thing... that's up to you.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This Baby Is Large This backdrop is huge.  I was able to photograph everyone in the state of Indiana standing shoulder to shoulder - with room to spare.  Its great quality. You have no other options if you want to shoot large groups of people.  It cost me $150 to ship this puppy to my office in NW Indiana.  Ouch.  It wont fit on a regular UPS delivery truck because of its size.  Get ready for that additional cost.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good, but not perfect Very good color consistency and weight. The problem we encountered was that about 35' into the roll there were dimples in the paper that wouldn't come out. We rolled out more paper and realized it was in the roll itself, right up the middle. They became an issue and we had to relight. Not the biggest problem in the world, but didn't need to spend the extra time relighting during a tight shoot.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super paper for super photos I have been using this product to isolate people and other subjects on a white background. It works great because its heavy duty and very bright paper that can bee rolled up and reused multiple times. Of course it is paper so at some point it will need to be replaced but I think it has great value. Shipping it is a hefty price though because of its size.

question

Can this be used with the Impact Deluxe Varipole System?
Asked by: Anurag
The Impact Varidrives included in the Impact Deluxe Varipole Support System can handle seamless rolls measuring up to 9' wide and weighing up to 22 lb. The Savage Widetone Seamless Background Paper (#20 Black, 140 x 105') is 11 ft 8 in long, and weighs 40 lbs. It would not be recommended for use with the Impact Deluxe Varipole Support System.

question

If the #01 Super White roll is hung over a green-screen painted wall, will the green bleed through? We have limited space and would like to have both options to shoot with.
Asked by: Jonathan H.
I don't think it will, sunlight did come through, but I don't think color would
