With its exceptional apparent angle of view, the Tele Vue Ethos 13mm Ultra Wide-Angle Eyepiece offers views with high contrast and excellent on-axis sharpness; and virtually zero astigmatism or field curvature across its expansive 100° field of view.

Combining a hyper-wide apparent angle of view with its medium focal length, this Ethos delivers moderate magnification for most general observation needs on near and deep-sky objects alike — while still offering an expansive and immersive observational experience. This eyepiece is parfocal with the 10mm Ethos, thus requiring little or no refocusing when changing between the two, and it also accepts astigmatism-correcting DIOPTRX diopters to further improve the view.

A unique design characteristic of the Ethos allows it to be used with the smaller, more common-sized 1.25" drawtubes and accessories; and a simple screw-on installation of the included adapter converts it for use in larger 2" versions. This provides users with an easy and convenient way to expand its functionality and versatility, without limiting its use or relying on clumsy eyepiece holder reducer adapters.

    Ethos 13mm Ultra Wide-Angle Eyepiece (1.25"/2") is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 9.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best eyepiece in the universe. Though it may be pricey, this eyepiece will replace a half dozen of the eyepieces already in your collection. Its 100-degree apparent field of view takes in as much space as a 22mm, 27mm, or even 30mm wide-angle eyepiece. Stars are tack sharp all the way to the edge: there's no smearing or vignetting anywhere in the field of view. Aim it at a globular cluster like M13 and what looks like a fuzzy ball in other eyepieces suddenly resolves into well-defined swirls of stars. And you've never really seen the Orion Nebula until you've seen it through the Ethos eyepiece. I let a friend use the eyepiece with his Celestron 1100 GPS, and when he pointed it at the Orion Nebula I heard a gasp and he said, It's like you're floating around in the nebula, right through the stars in the Trapezium! The eyepiece is pure Tele Vue in quality and fits either 2 or 1.25 focusing tubes. You'll pay a chunk of money for the Ethos but the first time I used it on a dark West Texas night I knew it was worth it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing!!! I've used this eyepiece in several telescopes from my 4 Schmidt Cassegrain, to a 25 reflector, and in all cases this eyepiece is flawless. Views of the double cluster were breathtaking and nebulae that once looked faint are now easy targets. I've tried several other eyepieces and there is simply no comparison (other than the price) Surprisingly it's not as heavy as it looks. This is one eyepiece replaces several, and is my favorite in the Ethos line, I also own a 21mm and 8mm Ethos.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A wonderful optical achievement. I use this eyepiece for close up deep sky observing with a deep sky filter, the view of M42,M44 & M45, made me feel like jumping right into the eyepiece placing the eye close to the eye lens open up the full 100 degree apparent f,o,v. I have never felt so personally close to space, like looking through a porthole of a spaceship. At 530mm focal lengh Saturn's rings and Titan although small are clear from one edge to the other egde with no distortion. All the reviews that have been placed in the astronony world are not overstating this eyepiece it is a master piece.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A New Benchmark in Eyepiece Performance The eyepiece was used in a TMB 175 f/8 Apo refractor, great combo. A Pentax ED 65 birding/spotting scope which could not reach infinity focus with it. In the last few weeks, only one night here had steady enough atmosphere to see the Last Quarter Moon in the stark sharpness this eyepiece delivers. Plenty of other nights allowed appreciation of the other virtues: contrast, lack of scatter, accurate color balance, lack of distortion, and finally the unique field of view. The best astro views give a sensation that you are viewing an object and not an image, and this eyepiece delivers. A nice view of Saturn needed a barlow lens for more power. The spotting scope test was mindblowing in a different way. The focus only went from about 8 to about 30 feet, but what a crispy, long-range microscopic world it was with little hairs and spots on twigs. I have new respect for the Pentax objective. I need to use the Ethos for birding on a scope with more focus travel, not tried yet. Got astigmatism? You ought to look into a Televue correcting lens to allow viewing without eyeglasses. Or just enjoy all the other benefits except the extremely immersive field. I would keep the eyepiece warm. The eye relief plus lots of staring may fog it before you're saturated with looking.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from fantastic eyepiece This is my first ultra wide field of view eyepiece, it definitely lives up to its reputation. I've only had it under truly dark skies once so far, but the views were spectacular - wide fields and high magnification. I use a nextar 8 sct and this eyepiece performs well on this scope with and without a f/6.3 focal reducer. The eyepiece is heavy compared to a plossl but from what I hear it's significantly lighter than many naglers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great on any telescope! I've used this eyepiece on telescopes ranging from an 800 mm refractor to a 2500 mm SCT. The wide field gives great viewing and is also helpful in finding objects that wouldn't be in the field of view with a narrower angle eyepiece. Another great product from Tele Vue!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic Views Very sharp across the field, and has very nearly the contrast and definition of the 14mm Delos. However the Delos does not have that 'wow' factor of the immersion in the sky that the Ethos has.
