Tele Vue Ethos Overview

With its exceptional 100° apparent angle of view, the Tele Vue Ethos 6mm Ultra Wide-Angle Eyepiece offers a comfortable eye-relief despite the short focal length, with high contrast and excellent on-axis sharpness; and virtually zero astigmatism or field curvature across its expansive 100° field of view. Combining a hyper-wide apparent angle of view with its shorter focal length, this Ethos delivers high magnification for enhanced detail on near and deep-sky objects alike, while still offering an expansive and immersive observational experience.

A unique design characteristic of the Ethos allows it to be used with smaller, more common-sized, 1.25" drawtubes and accessories; and with a simple screw-on installation of the included adapter converts it for use in larger 2" versions. This provides users with an easy and convenient way to expand its functionality and versatility, without limiting its use or relying on eyepiece holder reducer adapters.

When used in the 1.25" mode, this model is parfocal with a variety of Tele Vue eyepieces, requiring little or no refocusing when changing between them — greatly decreasing vibration and increasing convenience. A textured collar around the housing provides sure handling in cold weather or while wearing gloves, and a fold-down rubber eyecup allows for comfortable use with or without eyeglasses.

question

Good day,I got a Celestron NexStar Evolution 9.25 last week and from the reading it seems that it would benefit greatly from better eyepieces than the supplied stock ones. The telescope has Focal Length 2350 mm and Focal Ratio 10.I'm reading good things about the TeleVue Ethos.I was thinking about getting the Ethos 21mm. Would that be a good choice for my telescope? Also the Ethos SX 4.7mm, but maybe it would be too much power for my telescope? The supplied stock 13mm seems quite shaky as it is, using it from my apartment balcony. For the Ethos 21mm I would need 2 diagonal. Would TeleVue 2 Everbrite Diagonal - Satin be a good choice? Would it fit my telescope?Or maybe the Meade Series 5000 Dielectric Diagonal (2 ) as it seems to be supplied with Schmidt-Cassegrain to 2 adapter?Would there be a big difference between these two diagonals in the picture quality or not really on my telescope? What is the advantage of getting Ethos 21mm and Ethos 10mm versus Ethos 21mm and a 2x Barlow?Any advise/recommendations would be appreciated.Thanks.Regards,Andrej

I would personally go with the 21mm Ethos model. The 4.7mm will be overkill I think. You could still use it, but you would notice some shake for sure. I would go with the Meade 5000 Series for the Diagonal that would be a better choice. question

Hello,Is this lens compatible with the Celestron 6SE telescope? Many thanks
Asked by: Colin D.
I bought the lens about a month but have no chance to view through it yet. However I did try fitting it to my Celestron 8SE telescope which has a 1.25 diagonal and I did not have any problem.

question

How does this compare with the 22 mm 2 meade? Is it worth the extra bucks?
Asked by: Anonymous
I am not too sure which Meade Model you are referring to. My apologies. They do not have a 22mm 2 Eyepiece. Are you asking about the Tele Vue Nagler Type 4 22mm Wide Angle Eyepiece (2 )?

question

How will this lens perform with the Celestron 1100 CPC Goto?
Asked by: Anonymous
@ 2800mm of Focal length on the C11 you would be off the chart at almost 600X magnification. Way too much. Televue recommends not higher than 350X magnification. So the 8mm version would fit the bill better.
