When installing a LensCoat on Super Telephoto lenses, the standard Canon lens hood is tight and can damage the lens hood coat. This cover works well and I think it's quicker to install and remove.

I use a lens coat on my 600mm f4 Sony, and that makes the hood a bit to thick for the factory lens cover to fit over. The Hoodie solves that problem and is easier and quicker to use than the factory cover.

It's ok if modded but hard to put on & store in the field

It's like trying to put socks on a toddler :] Tip: Mod it by putting a zip-tie through the otherwise USELESS leather tag they sewed on and make a loop of about 1 1/2 inches, then hook the neoprene on one side of the hood and use the zip-tie loop to stretch it over the hood. You can also hang the hood on a tripod knob, a caribiner, or secure with a strap. Honestly, I almost pulled out the sewing machine and the camo neoprene sheet and made one, but I'm always rushed so I just ordered it. After using it I knew I should have made my own. They could VASTLY improve this by sewing on TWO pull loops 120 degrees apart so you could catch the neoprene in the middle (120 degrees between them) and pull it on with the loops. It does match the poorly fitting Lenscoat lens cover which I feel I must review.

It's hard to put this thing on every time. Just use the standard cover that comes with your lens.

Great easy-on, easy-off protection for big glass. Always keep it on when my lens is in the bag. Got the 4X for my 500 f4 based on descriptions, but it's a little too loose. Wish the sizing was a little clearer.

I have used these on several lenses: 14-24/2.8, 500mm and 600. Great protection for the lens when not in use, yet easily stuffed into a large pocket or bag when lens is being used.

How well does the 4X fit on the Sony 600mm f4? The actual measurement of the lens hood is at the small end of the 4X size range. Is the Hoodie too big to fit well?

I use this on the end of the lens hood for the Sony 400mm f/2.8. It’s too large for the lens without the hood though. Hope this helps.

Does anyone have experience with this on the new Canon 600 mm f/4 III? With and without a Lenscoat on the Canon lens hood?

Yes the LensCoat Hoodie Lens Hood Cover (4X-Large) is the correct Hoodie for the Canon 600mm f4 Mark 3 lens. You do not need to use the Lens Coat for the rest of the lens. The hood alone will fit fine.

The spec's from the manufacturer say 7 to 7.75 inch diameter so theoretically it should fit. I use mine on a Sigma 300 - 800 zoom.
