The Tiffen 49mm Deep Yellow #15 is commonly used for a noticeable increase in contrast with black and white films. It is also used to increase the separation of clouds and sky in black and white photography.

It's commonly said that monochrome digital sensors are a little less responsive to color filters for B&W photography than film - at least, as we perceive the results. I gave this filter a try since it promised a deeper tone than a #8 or lighter, the most traditional, yellow filter. Happy to report that it makes a noticeable difference with my Pentax K-3 mark III Monochrome, enhancing contrast without making the (SLR) viewfinder dark, and without cutting much light overall. I'll happily recommend it for the effect with B&W film or monochrome sensors. These Tiffens are rather bulky - they're certainly not slim filters. But that's my only complaint.
I use this filter for a black and white photography class, and it does what its supposed to.
