BH #NI2435DED • MFR #2168
Nikon PC-E NIKKOR 24mm f/3.5D ED Tilt-Shift Lens
Key Features
  • F-Mount Lens/FX Format
  • Aperture Range: f/3.5 to f/32
  • Three ED and Three Aspherical Elements
  • Nano Crystal & Super Integrated Coatings
Beginning with a comfortable wide-angle focal length, the Nikon PC-E NIKKOR 24mm f/3.5D ED takes this broad field of view and adds both tilt and shift movements to control focus and perspective. Up to +/- 8.5° of tilt is possible, for focus control; +/- 11.5mm of shift, to adjust perspective and composition; and +/- 90° of rotation is also possible for adjusting the axis of these movements. These movements benefit the wide-angle design, making it ideal for photographing landscapes, interiors, and architectural subjects with perspective and focus control to adjust distortion and depth of field.

At what shift value does vignetting begin to appear at the edges of the image, and how much does it spoil the picture?
Asked by: Andrey
Hi, there is no exact answer to your question--the aperture being used and the lighting situation will affect when vignetting might become visible and it's a personal choice as to whether it spoils a photo or not.

question

Does the AI coupling tang have to be modified and folded back on the F6 and D3s for this lens to be mounted to these bodies?
Asked by: Matthew
The Nikon PC-E NIKKOR 24mm f/3.5D ED Tilt-Shift Lens is not an AI or AI-S lens, and no physical adjustments or modifications to the lens are required to use the lens on either the Nikon D3s DSLR Camera or the Nikon F6 35mm Film SLR Camera. The Nikon PC-E NIKKOR 24mm f/3.5D ED Tilt-Shift Lens is fully compatible with the Nikon D3s. When using the Nikon F6 35mm Film SLR Camera, you will not be able to adjust the aperture setting using the camera control dials (you must use the aperture ring on the lens), and the only exposure mode that is compatible would be the full Manual mode (Program Auto, Shutter-Priority, and Aperture-Priority will not work when using the Nikon PC-E NIKKOR 24mm f/3.5D ED Tilt-Shift Lens). Also, when tilting/shifting the lens, handle the lens with care while shifting and/or tilting. Failure to do so may cause the lens to scratch the camera body. Otherwise, no other adjustments are necessary when using the above lens on either the Nikon D3s DSLR camera or Nikon F6 35mm Film SLR camera.

question

I went to the Nikon Service page and asked about how much it would cost to have the tilt/shift modification performed. It is a standard modification and is briefly discussed in the owner's manual. Three days later I got back and answer stating to send it in for repairs and an estimate. I haven't purchased the lens yet and I want to have an idea what my total costs would be, Could some one who has had this work performed please give me an idea what Nikon charged for the modification and how long it took to have the work performed?. I am seriously considering purchasing this lens.. 24mm PC tilt/shift
Asked by: Joel L.
When it comes to repairs and such direct from Nikon they should give you an estimate on the price. I would contact them again on the price. Costs for that change all the time.

question

Is this lens usable with the old nikon film cameras as nikon fm?Thank you in avanceJean
Asked by: Anonymous
Go to the Nikon website and download the product manual. It indicates that the "E" designation makes it such that compatibility with old manual camera is not possible. You can tilt and shift and focus manually but the electronic aperture setting is not possible. Only the most current Nikon bodies will have full compatibility.
