Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best for Managing Background Light Saturday, March 28, 2009 I use a no longer needed as a tripod heavy-duty Manfrotto tripod equipped with Manfrotto boom and counter-weight to hold a White-Lightning X1600 monolight equipped with a modified snoot to light my backgrounds for table-top product photography. The top of the Manfrotto tripod (Did I mention that the tripod rides on a heavy duty dolly?) has a standard 3/8 threaded male stud. The above mentioned 'Female Threaded 3/8 to Male 5/8 Stud Adapter' allows me to safely secure light and boom to the tripod.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quick light mount fix I was looking for a compact low profile light fixture mount for a small diameter rail system that I was making. I was not finding what I wanted and figured I would just make a mount and then I happened to notice this Manfrotto piece. It is easily mated to any standard split collar pipe mount that has a 3/8-16 female mounting hole. These can be found in any hardware or home project store that carries pumbing suppies. I modified the collar by inverting the clamping screws and using wing nuts to create clamping tension and a short 3/8-16 all thread to mate the Manfrotto piece. Worked great and has a very minimal low profile. It is a great piece to have in your rigging kit. I plan to buy a few more.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simple and great Allowed me to make a conversion on a mic stand i was using for a particular set-up which otherwise would have resulted in several components and a hassle.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just what I needed Needed a 5/8 stud to mount my lights on a Photogenics rail system. Perfect solution. Used some loctite to make sure they don't unthread as the lights are moving around.
