Canon 1953B001 overview

  • 1Description

Useful for minimizing reflections and glare and enhancing the overall color and tonal saturation is the 82mm Circular Polarizing Filter from Canon. By filtering out light that has become polarized due to reflection from a non-metallic surface, this filter helps to produce a noticeable increase in saturation of skies and foliage, as well as clearer imagery when photographing in hazy conditions. A circular polarizer differs from a linear polarizer in that it supports full use of a camera's autofocus and auto-exposure functions.

Reduces reflections and glare by filtering out light that has become polarized due to reflection from a non-metallic surface.
Arrange and filter directionally polarized light perpendicularly to the reflected light, allowing for the absorption of much of the light.
Lessens haze in distant landscapes and provides more saturated, vivid colors.
Strongest effect when used at a 90° angle from the sun.
Optical glass is used in order to maintain clear image quality with high contrast and color fidelity.

    Canon 1953B001 reviews

82mm Circular Polarizing Filter is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 12.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is the fifth Canon c-pol. I have All of my Canon polarizers give me exactly what I see through the lens without any vignetting no matter how wide it may be. Canon has for the first time put threads on the front of this filter so that you can put a lens cap over it which is very helpful..

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not what I expected This is a very expensive polarizing filter, I of course wanted to pair the great performance of my 16-35f/2.8 but I went wrong with this filter. A friend of mine let use his Heliopan and wow! what a big difference in built quality, besides of course how good the skies look and the glare disappears! Besides is way too thin (expected for this one in particular)a bit hard to remove when one need it. Easy to come off when in use!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Full coverage filter Very thin profile. Covers the whole frame when adjusted correctly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Thin Polarizer with great results Thin polarizer works well on Canon 16-35, but be careful (as with any polarizer) not to over tighten.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Would buy again In the past, I've used only B&W filters, but the 82 mm was out of stock when I needed this, so I got the Canon. It's about as good as B&W, and a lot less expensive. I would buy this again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great polarizer for Canon lens I purchased some very expensive Canon L lenses and I didn't want to degrade all that quality with another brand polarizer. I don't know the other brands very well but I'm very happy with Canon quality. This filter is no exception. It works very well, it's easy to use and it fits perfectly. I'm very satisfied with the polarizer and B&H's super fast shipping. It seems they get stuff to me before I know I want it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Opens up great photo opportunities I got some great blue sky with this filter. I am excited to get some lake and landscape photos where you can see the through the water without reflections. The only downside is the nurling to grip and remove the filter is very thin. I may need to purchase a tool for removal. It would also help to secure it tightly so I don't accidently dismount it inadvertantly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from EVERYONE SHOULD HAVE ONE Took this to Lake Tahoe, where skies are blue and cloudless. The photos that include the sky and landscape-type photos are breathtaking! I was amazed the whole trip how well the polarizer responded. It does its job well in bright sunlight.
