Canon 2188B001 overview

  • 1Description

Useful for minimizing reflections and glare and enhancing the overall color and tonal saturation is the 58mm Circular Polarizing Filter from Canon. By filtering out light that has become polarized due to reflection from a non-metallic surface, this filter helps to produce a noticeable increase in saturation of skies and foliage, as well as clearer imagery when photographing in hazy conditions. A circular polarizer differs from a linear polarizer in that it supports full use of a camera's autofocus and auto-exposure functions.

Reduces reflections and glare by filtering out light that has become polarized due to reflection from a non-metallic surface.
Arrange and filter directionally polarized light perpendicularly to the reflected light, allowing for the absorption of much of the light.
Lessens haze in distant landscapes and provides more saturated, vivid colors.
Strongest effect when used at a 90° angle from the sun.
Optical glass is used in order to maintain clear image quality with high contrast and color fidelity.

    Canon 2188B001 reviews

58mm Circular Polarizing Filter is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 18.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pro Shots I take landscape photographs and I have so often looked at calendars, postcards and large framed photos and wondered how the photographer got the images to look so good. My images colours just werent as vivid. I thought they must be doing something in photoshop until it was suggested I try a polarizing filter. So I have been using it for a week and I am SO HAPPY. My images finally have the pro look. If you want to have awesome looking images with vivid colour its well worth the money to get a polorizing filter.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wonderful Purchase! I am excited to use the filter to shoot water, the sky, through windows, etc. I noticed the first time I rented a circular polarizing filter that the skin tones, sky, reflections were so vibrant and clear. From then on, I knew I wanted to buy the filter.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Useful but pricey This small polarizing filter delivers the same benefits as its larger cousins -- deeper skies, enhanced primary colors and when necessary, a reduction in reflections. It does so with a drawback: price. Why does Canon prices this 58mm polarizer so high? Only Canon knows, but its other polarizing filters are high in price, too. If the price were more reasonable, you'd get more value for your money and I'd give it 5 stars.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from everything I expected great for clouds and landscapes. Also enhances sunrays. Makes colors more vivid and true to life. When I first tried to mount it, I was unsuccessful but a B&H rep walked me through and it was really my fault that I couldn't mount it at first.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect Pictures Those picture perfect photos you see with beautiful skylines are NO ACCIDENT. The person behind the lens almost certainly had a filter to cut through the haze and add some contrast. The 58mm Canon filter should be in everyones camera bag and on a sunny day it should stay on all the time. This filter is high quality - the fit and finish is excellent. An easy way to get great looking outdoor photos!
