My lens came with a cover but I lost it. So I bought this one and it had so many of the same qualities. I don’t know why but think it’s because it’s the same. This familiarity allowed me to start using it effortlessly WITHOUT LOOKING AT THE INSTRUCTIONS. I know, crazy. You’re saying, “Craig, are you like an engineer? Mechanically gifted? A former Nikkor researcher? No, I am but a man. But a better man for having the Nikon 14-24 lens cover in my possession.

Just curious what the I.D. (inner diameter) of this cover is or conversely the O.D. of the lens hood?
The internal diameter of the lens Nikon Slip-On Front Lens Cover for 14-24mm f/2.8G ED AF-S Lens is 99mm x 30mm. It will cover the built-in petal lens hood on the Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 14-24mm f/2.8G ED Lens.

This cap is the same as what is included in the box and fits perfectly on Nikon 14-24mm f2.8

Will this cap fit the nikon 14mm lens?
No it will not. The two lenses have a different external diameter and this would not fit it. Unfortunately we do not carry a spare slip-on cap from Nikon for the 14mm f2.8 prime lens. It's works just like the original hood that came with the camera.
