Audio-Technica AT2035 Overview

  • 1Description

The AT2035 Cardioid Condenser Microphone from Audio-Technica features a side-address design and can be used in critical home, project, or professional studio applications as well as live performances. The microphone offers a cardioid polar pattern for minimal feedback and off-axis noise. The element and output stage combine to produce a smooth yet natural audio quality with low noise. There is an 80 Hz high-pass filter switch for eliminating low frequency hum and other associated noises, and a -10 dB pad switch provides more headroom when capturing transient signals that may otherwise cause peak distortion. The microphone also includes a shock mount, a threaded adapter, and a protective pouch.

Large diaphragm for smooth, natural sound and low noise
High SPL handling and wide dynamic range provide unmatched versatility
Custom shock mount provides superior isolation
Switchable 80 Hz high-pass filter and 10 dB pad
Cardioid polar pattern reduces pickup of sounds from the sides and rear, improving isolation of desired sound source
Includes custom shock mount and protective pouch

    Audio-Technica AT2035 Reviews

AT2035 Cardioid Condenser Microphone is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 118.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Best Mic for it's Price! I'm a rapper and producer from Malaysia. Previously I was using the M-Audio Nova condenser mic. I wouldn't say that It was bad but I wasn't satisfied with the quality I got from it. So when i decided to change to another mic, I came across the AT2035 and purchased it. I must say I was more than amazed! Such quality and clarity! If you're really familiar with EQ's and compression, there's no doubt that you can get the sound want from the AT2035. I'm more than satisfied! Amazing mic! Amazing price! I'll do another review post soon with link to the video of my song recorded through AT2035. Till then, great job Audio-Technica! Wonderful product!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great mic for rap vocals I bought this mic to record vocals for rap/hip-hop/alternative music in my home studio. With the proper recording environment and mixing techniques this mic can produce near-industry standard recordings. For the low price this is an incredibly high quality mic and I would recommend it to anyone starting a home studio, anything cheaper than this just isn't worth it. It is important to remember that this mic is not all you will need, any mic will sound bad in a carppy environment, especially this mic. The AT2035 is VERY sensitive to background noise like fans, AC's, washing machines, computers and movement.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great I use the AT2035 for recording readings and commercials on my local college radio show. I can't imagine getting much better unless you spend 10x more, to me it sounds perfectly clear. This microphone is also a much better deal than the AT2020 because it comes with a shockmount, 10db pad, lowcut pad, larger diaphragm, and is made in Taiwan instead of China. I also noticed the AT2035 instructions were printed on a higher quality paper stock than the paper for the AT2020. My feelings are the materials chosen for the AT2035 are probably of higher quality as well. This is by far a better deal. I think your getting a much better product for nearly the same price with the AT2035.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Of Highest Quality at A Great Price About a year ago, while researching equipment for setting up my first small, home-recording studio, I settled on the AT2035, and this was simply because it provided the virtual flat, truly accurate response I was hoping to record, especially when attempting to capture the wonderful sound of my 1938 Gibson L00. Since I purchased two (for stereo recording), and since I've just now started using them, I've never been more satisfied with the professional quality of their construction as well as in their ease of use, especially when I add any other instrument (including voice# to the mix. If anyone was trying to do the same as me #especially with a limited budget), I know they would be fully content with the performance of the AT2035 - they are worth every penny.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Poor choice for Windows 7/Audacity Mic is extremely fussy with Audacity on a Windows 7 laptop. Mic works with other applications on the computer, but is almost impossible to use on a Windows 7 machine with audacity. Three of us fiddled with it for hours yesterday and eventually got it to work with the software. Couldn't replicate it again today; after several frustrating hours, it still won't work with Audacity. OTOH, I downloaded Audacity onto a desktop machine with XP and it worked flawlessly. The box says the microphone works with Windows 7, but the manual included with the microphone makes no reference to the setup and use of the microphone on a Windows 7 machine. I am very disappointed.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Worth It Before I ordered the AT2035, I was using a Shure SM58. I like this microphone much more. The tone is very clear, it picks up my voice very well, and it doesn't pick up too much background noise. It will pick up SOME noise, though. I've had to separate my computer from the area I record in because of this, but that's simply because it's such a good microhpone. The AT2035 also comes with a feature to prevent some background interference. It works well, just not perfectly. I find the microphone to be very well constructed. Feels strong in my hand, and connected to a mic stand, doesn't really need to be touched again. It just works.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Product Very pleased with this mic. Very versatile, good overall sound for a killer price. Im using it both for voice and acoustic guitar. I would recommend this to anyone putting together a home studio. After the $30 mfg rebate came to less than a hundred bucks. What more can you ask. Don't spend $$$ unless you really have the dough. I own a Blue Bluebird and when comparing it I can see a noticeable difference especially in the top end but then again it's in a different price range altogether. I am giving it 5 stars due to performance for the price. Oh, i almost forgot, the mount (like most of AT mounts) are not so good but will do the job.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from YES, it's worth the small price!!! Well, let me start by sharing... I owned a Music Store in the late 70s early 80s- We sold Audio Technica products even back then... I'm a Professional Musician, Producer, Multi-Instrumentalist... One has to step back from the instantaneous, social media- bash, dash, "hecto-confusing", gratification/confusion World we now live in... By stepping back... remember what you paid for this mic... It's well worth the admission , the set up ( plug and play), and the ever hanging ways to records music and voice. This , considering it's price, really checks all of the boxes... Enjoy your time, enjoy your music and enjoy LIFE :-) Thx AT- good Mic at this price point!!!
