Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very useful for location lighting! I typically use a lighting assistant for my off-camera lighting to help me out when doing location sessions; however, when I can't get assistance, I've been trying to figure out a solution that I like. I had been using a tripod, but wasn't totally happy with it because 1) I never felt my Canon Speedlite (with a travel modifier) was totally secure on it 2) the legs had to be individually lengthened/shortened (which slowed us down) 3) there were occasions it wasn't tall enough. Thus I came across this light stand with a bit of help from the great folks at B&H. I used it for the first time for a session yesterday. As other folks have mentioned, it is a bit of weight to carry around from spot to spot, but totally manageable for a 2 hour session of moving from spot to spot and not that much more weighty than the tripod I had been using previously. What that weight allows for is a sturdiness/heft in the base as well as in the pole. I felt my equipment was always secure/safe. The three legs move together unless you need the variance of the leveling leg. Once you set the base, then raising/lowering the height was very quick. The extra height it afforded (my tripod only went up to about 6`) was perfect for my taller clients and for when they were on stairs. As another person mentioned, it was a bit stiff expanding and collapsing the base, but I'm hopeful that will loosen up a bit with a few more uses. (As an aside, I also used the SpiderPro Holster system to secure my camera as I was messing with and carrying the lightstand and with these two new additions, felt quite capable/efficient even without my typical assistant).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great with Profoto B1 I shoot with my Profoto B1 for weddings and was looking for a sturdy stand with a leveling leg for use on uneven ground. The Avenger is more than sturdy enough to do the job with the fairly heavy B1 and the leveling leg provides even greater stability and security. The stand was pretty stiff and did not open smoothly the first few times I used it but it is nicely broken in now. It's somewhat heavy if you have to carry it a long way and it's not the easiest on the hands. I'm looking for a sling bag long enough to use with it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Awesome for location work First off, this is bulkier than I thought from the picture. That turns out to be a good thing. This stand is as strong as a C stand and goes as high. The plus is the lazy leg. I bought it for that. I do a lot of outdoor location lighting and needed something for uneven terrain. Seems to be bomb proof. I'll have this for years. Four stars because perhaps it could be a tad lighter. Don't forget a sandbag for outdoor use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The ultimate stand for photographers I decided to switch all of my stands from C Stands to these Kit stands. They are just so much more flexible then C stands. A short list of benefits -weigh much lighter -rocky mountain leg -fits easily in most stand bags -Pin located at the legs to hang sandbags easily from. As a photographer I almost can't think of a situation which I would prefer a C Stand over this kit stand.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My Favorite Stand These things are awesome. I have two of them, they are more useful than C-Stands from what I have used them for, and are built basically the same with different legs. I prefer to take these stands over my cheaper lighter china stands, because these stands are rugged, well made, and the leveling leg makes it super easy to shoot outside.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great on location light stand I'm a national commercial photographer who often shoots on location. I also just purchased Priolites which are quite heavy. So I needed a stand that would hold a 10 pound monolight on uneven ground. This stand is sturdy, well made and offers enough leg adjustment to suit my needs. I would not hesitate to purchase another unit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great, Sturdy mid-size light stand Great light stands. Solid construction, very stable, not excessively heavy. My favorite feature is a thick rubber ring between each section - I doubt it'd do a whole lot to protect your fingers but it does muffle the clanging and banging that a lot of stands do.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Stand!!! I have all sorts of light stands that I use. These are some of my favorites! They are pretty heavy and sturdy, but not too heavy to carry around or store in tubes or cases. The adjustable leg is great too if you are ever on an uneven surface!
